Britney and Donncha's underwear scandal

Donncha O Callaghan Over the past week Britney Spear’s escapades while out on the town have made headlines all over the Internet but here in Ireland, sports fans have been witness to another underwear malfunction in the form of Donncha O’Callaghan’s superman attire at a recent rugby match! Ladies in the crowd were suitably impressed although the referee did tell Donncha to put his pants on before play could continue. Much to the relief of male supporters and the chagrin of the ladies I’m sure!

Yes, tv cameras were there and the coverage below (via) is just too shocking to show so click “more” to view the clip!

Youtube feeds my C64 Nostalgia

It’s all Mark’s fault. He mentioned Codemasters, then Dizzy, then he posted this movie of Magicland Dizzy completed in super-fast time. I had to search for more.

The following post contains several Youtube videos so click more if you want to see Gyroscope, Ghosts and Goblins, Barbarian and other Commodore 64 classics brought to life again!

Really I need a mugger who can file my Vat returns

Comedian Dara O Briain is interviewed by Rose Costello in the Sunday Times “Fame and Fortune” column this week. If you’ve never seen him on tv or perform live then check out the clips at the end of this post!

As a self employed person I took to heart his recommendation that, “Oh yeah, and if you’re self-employed, get an offset mortgage.” You pay tax once a year, all that dosh is building up in your current account, doing what? You might as well get it working and paying off the mortgage. As soon as my fixed rate loan period is up …

How much money do you normally have in your wallet and do you carry anything unusual or sentimental in it?

I never have cash in my wallet at any time — so take that, you brigands and banditos, you’ll get nothing from me. Instead I carry around months and months of receipts. Really I need a mugger who can file my Vat returns.

York Model Railway Station

Update! Dara was on Podge & Rodge’s show the other night! Here’s the obligatory Youtube video: (via)

How to make cocaine

Cocaine use is ruining many lives, the social side effects of paying for an expensive addictive habit ruins society but it’s also disgusting all the crap they use to make cocaine. As it’s an illegal drug you have to take what you get: petrol, cement, calcium oxide, ammonia, H2SO4 and of course coca leaves. This video takes you through the process of from picking the leaves, chopping them, spraying them wth the above chemicals and filtering. Ugh. Everyone should see this video. It might stop someone experimenting with it in the first place.

The Swearing Lady has been reading about Cocaine use in Ireland and the UK. It’s being cut with carcinogenic chemicals to increase yields so on top of the chemicals above drug users are really f*cked. (via and I’d swear Damien linked to the movie a few days ago too)

Edit: the video that was here is long gone, but here’s a text description of how to make cocaine. Reminded me of Breaking Bad reading that.

Pat Kenny's bust up on the The Late Late Show

It seems that Pat Kenny was confronted on the Late Late Show last night and the video has already made it onto YouTube! I heard on the radio this morning that the man is in custody. Well done to Pat for coming back from the ad break composed and ready to carry on the show. I didn’t see the show myself, I was channel surfing elsewhere (Escape From Alcatraz was on which was interesting since I’d been there!)

For those not familiar with The Late Late Show, think of the host of the most popular chat show in your country being confronted by a drunken man shouting obscenities!

Thanks Donal for posting the video, that _was_ quick!

Update – The man who caused the controversy is Paul Stokes who has patented a system that uses GPS as a road safety aid. It helps stop cars crashing by tracking every vehicle on the roads and Mr. Stokes asserts the RTE and the Irish media are censoring him.

Cork Cinema Listings

Every time I want to go to the cinema I search for Cork Cinema and generally end up in the same sites looking up titles and times. If I’m feeling tired and don’t want to go into town, then there’s always the Reel Cinema in Blackpool to find. Enough is enough, for future referene here’s a few cinema related links Cork people will appreciate:

  • The Kino Cinema – because we all like arthouse cinema once in a while. Pah! Commercial considerations? This is art! It is great that you can bring a cup of tea or coffee into the cinema though.
  • The Whazon? cinema listing has links to all cinemas around the city should you wish to go to the Gate, Mahon Point, Douglas, Ballincollig or elsewhere.
  • Entertainment.ie has a page on The Reel Picture Blackpool. That’s where we go most often because it’s the closest. Not a bad cinema either.

What will we see tonight? I think it’ll be Borat. It’s quite probably over-hyped, and I’m not expecting anything but the usual silliness that Sacha Baron Cohen excells at.

Malcolm in the Middle

One of the perennial arguments couples will have and compromise over is what to watch on TV. For us it used to be Will & Grace (argh!), then Two and a Half Men (getting better!) but thankfully we got into watching Malcolm in the Middle and have been glued to it ever since. The show is now over, finishing with Malcolm.. well, I won’t spoil it for you if you haven’t seen it, but it finishes in typical Wilkerson style.

If you’re like to know more, and even find out things you didn’t know you wanted to know, then take a look at the Wikipedia Malcolm in the Middle page. It’s chock full of useful and useless gossip and facts about the characters and places and episodes and secrets and makes for an entertaining read.

Frankie Muniz who played Malcolm in the series has had a very interesting life. He’s a professional race car driver now, and is engaged to marry.

Who is you favourite character?

Bush assassinated on TV

George Bush AssassinatedI wondered why I saw someone visit my blog by searching for this subject. It appears that a tv drama will depict the assassination of US President George Bush! They use, “archive footage, actors and computer effects to portray the president being shot dead.”

Why? They want to explore the effects of the War on Terror on the US apparently. Do they presume that the US President will be shot in an act of revenge? It’s on More 4 on October 9th. I’ll watch it. (via)

While we’re on the subject of wacky ideas, I watched Being John Malkovich tonight. What a crazy film, but definitely worth seeing.
