It was for a few games of Call of Duty WAW and Bad Company 2 that I switched on my PS3 last night. Mike joined me in a few coop games of the WAW campaign. It was a blast to play on hardened difficulty and all new to Mike as he hadn’t played the single player game at all.

Next up we joined a few games of Bad Company 2. The BC2 community is definitely getting smaller. Most games were not filled. Games were tough, but we had fun despite the fact our team wasn’t the greatest in the world. Tye joined us shortly afterwards, and we were constantly awarded the best squad medal.

Mike left before or during my last game which was a last tough one. We were defending on Arica harbour. Attackers used every trick possible to destroy the crates. They basically steamrolled through us until the end where we holed up. I smoked the area, and knocked the attackers down to about 11 tickets before the destroyed our last crate. We did well even if they did use C4.

Halo Reach: Death in pictures

I previously mentioned watching Paul as he ran away from big hulking monsters in a recent game of Firefight but it was actually his pal, Valkyr1e, who was last man standing in the game I was thinking of. Paul’s time came in a different game!

Halo Reach allows you to play back any of your recent games in it’s Theatre mode. You can render videos from games if you give them money but you can take screenshots for free, so…

This is me. Facing a bloody huge monster who fires green bolts of fire every few seconds. Oh no! I’ve got my assault rifle, threw my last grenade behind this huge guy a few seconds ago. What to do? Back away, back away, back away!

Brown Pants Time! Fire! Fire! Fire!

Blood spurts everywhere as I go flying backwards after being brutally punched by this huge armoured alien. In the background you can see Valkyr1e, a moment too late to save my ass.

Unfortunately with Paul and myself out of the game Valkyr1e was up against some tough competition. We watched over his shoulder as he made a tactical retreat out of danger.

It was hopeless. He dived out of cover and made a break for it going for the weaker enemies down slope.

No sooner had he dispatched one of his foes when he was struck cowardly from behind and fell under a hail of blows and laser fire. The objective had been lost.

Thanks for watching. Don’t forget to rate, comment and subscribe. Oh wait. This isn’t Youtube.

The worst targeted spam ever!

I honestly thought that spammers had gotten smarter about making sure their emails were taken seriously. Even the most geeky and anti-marketing of developers will realise that big red and bold text, center justified, looks like something out of the last century. I hope for the sake of their business that they put more effort into their backup service.

This email, which I received twice in the last week is just a joke. I would have immediately marked it as spam and forgotten about it but it mentioned WordPress and obviously my email address is on their list of WordPress bloggers. I wonder if they read my blog?

At least they didn’t CC everyone like an Irish guy did a few years back.

If you want me to look at your new service, write me a nice friendly email, address me by name, email me from your own email address, talk to me about something you’ve gleaned from my blog or my twitter stream so I at least think you’re a friendly individual and I may even check out your site.

I’m sorry Paul, watching you run away from huge giants firing green blobs at the end of that game of Firefight last night was really entertaining. Myself and VALKYR1E of course were ghosts watching over your shoulder, hoping you’d succeed but the odds were against you.

I played a few games of Halo last night, and unfortunately they were really laggy again. It may well have been Paul’s wireless connection. If you have any suggestions for him, check out his blog post above!

Rocketfight is such good fun isn’t it? 🙂

Reconsidering my Medal of Honor pre-order

I pre-ordered Medal of Honor (for PS3) a few days ago from Amazon. I selected their free delivery method so it’ll be almost a week after release before I get the game, but I can wait. Really. Maybe.

Anyway, a few videos from the PC beta showed up on Youtube this morning that made me rethink the wisdom of pre-ordering the game.

In Jay’s video he must have been fuming at the lack of progress and deaths he suffered at the hands of unseen enemies. I certainly would have been (quietly) cursing my enemy.

Seems there are already aimbots in the PC beta. Look at how fast that guy flicks from left to right shooting at distant enemies.

But finally, d0n7bl1nk posted a video where he did rather well and he was upbeat about the game. Even at 360p the scenery looks stunning to me, and at least there won’t be any crate bashing in the objective type games.

One final video from Mileycyrusthevirus. He’s undecided about the game too but the gameplay video is great.

Have any of you, my dear readers played the PC beta? Do you like it? The console beta months ago was a pile of pooh but DICE have had plenty of time to work their magic and make it better.

PS. Good to see David’s still posting videos!

More good games of Halo Reach last night…

More good games of Halo Reach last night, but the lag in Firefight was really bad. Nice to finally play with Damien (Hey DOD, get your mic fixed, I want to hear if you’ve lost your Cork accent out there in Texas!)

The “skill matching” seemed to help, and in one game of SWAT we were matched with a team with at least one other noob. I got quite a few headshots in that one! I must try to get a few more screenshots.

Thanks Paul, Damien, Tye, Nick and nadrojb for playing! Check out Paul’s post about his Halo experiences!

PS. Hi XxHIBBERT23xX!

Good couple of games of Halo Reach Firefight there with Meech, Alex and Paul. All of us either blogging on WordPress.com or working for Automattic. 🙂

Despite the atrocious lag we had lots of fun. The lag was so bad that the game would stall or stutter every 10 seconds or so while it waited on players, or swapped hosts. Very frustrating.

Edit: Teamkills are bound to happen and they’re always regrettable. Alex killed me when he was driving one of the alien tank thingies. Never mind because I got him back. Later on Glacier I had a huge laser weapon and I was targeting an enemy tank. Unfortunately at the exact moment I fired Alex took control of it. We weren’t exactly helped by lag either. 🙁

Theatre mode in Halo Reach is very powerful, allowing you to replay recent games and even upload them to Bungie. I’ve uploaded this particular game and took a few screenshots. Here’s one very memorable moment!

Hello Playstation Move!

Well, I bought a Playstation Move controller and a navigation controller, plus MAG, as that’s the only shooter supporting Move out there right now.

I’ve only played 2 of the supplied demos, Shooter (accurate but yawn inducing on-rails shooter) and Echochrome ii, an interesting game where you line up shadows to allow a character to run across the screen and escape.

MAG is now loading. It downloaded a 35MB PS3 update fairly quickly but the second 520.84MB update is crawling along.

Yeah, it’s just like the Wii, but with fancy graphics.

Gamestop Trade-in list for Playstation Move

Gamestop are offering a trade in for the Playstation Move starter pack. Trade in 2 games and pay €14.99 for the new motion controller. play.com has the pack for €55.99 so it might be worth checking out how much you can get for these games in other stores as you’re only getting €20 per game, some of which are quite new.

I notice that COD WAW for the Wii is on the list, as is Blur for the PS3 (and my hate for that game is without limit) so there’s plenty to go with. MW2 is there too but I think I’d rather keep that than play Blur again.

Will you be getting the new Playstation Move controller?
