So this is what it’s like to play with super humans …

I decided to try a game of Bad Company 2 after work this evening and started the game with an assault class (XMP whatever-it’s-called assault rifle) as a defender on Nelson Bay. You know, the map set at night. I hate it.

Anyway, the attackers took Alpha so we hunkered down at Bravo fending off all attacks and won very quickly. I managed to kill 13 for 11 deaths. Wow. That was fast.
Next round we were attacking, on the same map. Practically as soon as I spawned my team had set a charge on Alpha and next thing I knew that bomb had detonated. Within minutes Bravo was gone too! I barely fired a shot, didn’t kill anyone and died 4 times. But the game lasted all of about 3-4 minutes. That’s unheard of!

Playstation Move, from the future by Kevin Butler.

It’s funny, and throws a few punches at the Wii and Natal but did you see the guy hunched over playing the FPS? If I had to do that for any length of time I’d be sending Sony the bills for my physio!

Oh, here’s a less than glowing review of the Playstation Move.

How did people react? There is a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the product, and people were talking about similarities to Nintendo titles and about the price of the product in hushed tones. There were jokes made about the look of the Move; many people compared it to a certain sexual toy. Others placed the glowing orbs on their crotch, to mimic testicles. In short, there wasn’t a lot of love for the Move at the launch.

Patrick's Day in Blarney

We were originally going to be walking in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Blarney but our son fell asleep a few minutes ago, and it wouldn’t be fair on him to drag him out unfortunately. We did visit the “farmers market” this morning however and I took a few photos. They’re really only snapshots but I hope you enjoy them, especially if you have visited Blarney.

This is probably the few times in the year that you’ll see this many locals near Blarney Castle! 😉

Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2 were a complete fail last night. I got mowed down in MW2 by everyone else, and in BC2 I joined the game as a medic only to discover I had one squad mate who quickly disappeared and wasn’t interested in playing as a team.

Oh, and I unlocked the defibrillator and the enhanced medkit. Reviving downed team mates was useful though it’s a hard job.

Still, at least I got a positive KDR in one game when I manned the gun on a tank!

So basically, the person at the top of the scoreboard is the person who’s played their class the most effectively. They’re the guys who healed the most teammates, or blew up the most enemy tanks, or kept the front line supplied with ammo. Basically, they’re not the people who are best with their guns, but the people best at helping their friends. And that’s an important dynamic.

  3. Squad Deathmatch in Bad Company 2. 4 teams of 4 battle it out. The first to 50 kills wins. Haven’t tried it yet. Isn’t it odd that team deathmatch is listed at the top of the game modes in MW2 yet it’s objective games in BfBC2 that are prominent.

Woah, couple of good games of Bad Company 2 there. And someone actually had their mic on. Thanks Lars for all the revives. Definitely great to hear your squad mate.

I played as medic too as the first game was defense and after that I wanted to unlock the defibrillator (spell that without a spell checker!) but our squad had one sniper who at one stage was the only surviving member of our team so Lars and I spawned on him running until I realised he was running the wrong way! Cursing we started running towards the bombs and a good 20 seconds later entered the fray. First I got shot, then I heard Lars confirm his death too. Oops.

Our sniper was still sniping from miles away though. By the island on Isla whatever-it-it’s-called when we had moved up to the last target. Maybe he was doing some good but I doubt it and forgot to check his score. *grrr*

Unfortunately we lost but it was a blast. It’s strange the camaraderie created from a shared experience online with total strangers.
