Couple of great games of Bad Company 2 w…

Couple of great games of Bad Company 2 with Eddie on the Xbox after work. I totally lost track of time!

I played recon with my trusty M1 for quite a while, and love that gun. Love the sound of it at least, even if it’s not the best gun in the game. I eventually unlocked the motion mines, and while defending they lit up the enemy nicely. I did try the M24 but, meh, I sucked at it. I got picked off by a sniper just after I respawned so I didn’t bother with it after that.

We lost mostly, but won at least one game. Mostly it was fairly evenly matched. It was tough but very enjoyable. We had a full squad with 2 strangers. Even though they didn’t use the mic at least they listened to me shouting at them. I think.

So, I leveled to rank 11. I unlocked the motion mine, the Type 88 sniper rifle, and one or two perks and got some achievement or other I think. KDR suffered but had great games.

Cannon Fodder theme by Press Play On Tape

Thanks David for the comment linking to this video. It’s so great it deserves a post of it’s own.

Press Play On Tape get on stage with Jon Hare and play the Cannon Fodder theme with game controllers. Playstation and Xbox controllers of various types were used as well as a retro arcade joystick played by Jon.

It’s well worth watching even if you don’t remember the game!

Extreme Cannon Fodder

David produced a montage of great clips from Geoff’s Youtube channel and played the old Cannon Fodder theme tune in the background. I can’t believe this hasn’t been done before but maybe the average Youtuber is too young to remember this classic Amiga game!

Geoff himself used the same tune in this Squad Rush video as he and his team annihilated the opposition. Cannon fodder indeed!

Montage clips are from Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2 of course. If you’re curious, here’s the Cannon Fodder intro and here’s some gameplay from the game. Great game, but I always preferred Syndicate.

Gears of War 3 trailer and brief analysis

I have both Gears of War 1 and 2 and loved the single player game in each. I haven’t played them multiplayer though and apparently GOW 2 had serious problems. I didn’t get particularly far in either game either but the graphics were stunning and gameplay rocking. Looking forward to what GOW 3 has to offer!

iMP 4 in 1 Multi Component AV Cable Xbox360/Wii/PS2/PS3

My quest for a component switcher cable continues. Play-asia were totally unresponsive and then so were Divineo.co.uk so I’ve ordered the iMP 4 in 1 Multi Component AV Cable Xbox360/Wii/PS2/PS3 from an Amazon.co.uk reseller. It’s almost half the price again of the XCM cable I had ordered from Divineo.

Needless to say I have cancelled my Divineo order.

All I want to do is play my PS3 in HD, is that so bad? *sob* (sound of violins, fade to black, roll credits)

Modern Warfare 2 Harrier Glitch

Want to fly 9 harriers in the air at one time in Modern Warfare 2? This glitch will apparently let you do that. Crazy. (via)

1. Equip the following load out (must be the same)
M16 + Holographic sight – not really needed but some weapons it doesn’t work – M16 is confirmed.
AT4-HS Launcher
Tactical Insertion
Smoke Grenade

*Killstreaks* Just make sure you’ve equipped the Care package – doesn’t matter about 2 and 3.

2. Run around and kill 4 people until you’ve got the care package.

3. First quip the care package then in the following order: Equip the Tactical Insertion, just before it light animation (as it catches) press LB followed by Y then hold the right trigger.

4. The rocket will fire and you’ll hear the harrier sound notification, select the harrier and place it on the map – as you’ve placing it on the map hold the DPAD right button.

5. Once you’ve called in the harrier if you’ve kept the DPAD right held down you’ll hear the harrier sound notification again – repeat step 4 over and over again until you’ve got 9 harriers in the air.

6. To repeat after all 9 harriers have left go back to step 2.

The author of the glitch contacted Infinity Ward in January but they ignored him. Nasty glitch.

Bad Company 2 with David, Mark and Conor…

Bad Company 2 with David, Mark and Conor tonight. I found it hard to get into my stride but we were playing on a great team and I think won every game. I did come out with a decent KDR in two rounds too!

Ok, ok, never mind that they were crap scores. I was laying down smoke and refilling ammo quite a bit too but whenever my KDR gets near 1 I celebrate!

Still waiting on my component switcher cable. Friday night’s game was in HD and it made a huge difference.

Edit – never mind the above, thinking back over the games I think I’m just peeved that we were playing with such a strong team who played for the objective. I did my share of setting and defending the bomb but this time our squad wasn’t the only one doing so. It was quite amazing how fast we overran the enemy base sometimes. I honestly prefer those games where we have to fight for every inch (but not have to fight too hard!)

Bad Company 2 Helicopter Tutorial

Not another helicopter tutorial? Yes, yes, but this one is good and it’s short. Flying a helicopter in Bad Company 2 is damn hard and AdaptableFuton suggests changing the air controls to BC1 controls. Might make it easier but you probably lose manoeuvrability.

Also, and this is the important bit. Engineers can only repair the helicopter when it’s flying low. I didn’t know that. Must have been dumb luck when I was repairing that we were at the right altitude.
