Yesterday evening I happened upon this server where I couldn’t spawn anywhere. I initially joined a squad but all members of the squad were dead. I left the squad but still couldn’t spawn. I’m not the only one!

Hedgehog interrupts Bad Company 2
I had a few games of Bad Company 2 yesterday. First of all with Mike and red_draggons and later on with Mike, Gavin and Ali. The games were great and I concentrated on burst firing the AN-94 a lot more and got my 4th gold star for that gun.
Near the end our our gaming session my wife came running into my office telling me to come downstairs. There was a hedgehog outside trying to eat the cat’s food! The poor fella never noticed Sooty asleep in the kennel next to the food and he was scared stiff! I took a few photos of him, and because there wasn’t anything we could do left him to his own devices.
When the game did end I took another look outside. The hedgehog had crawled into the space between the wall and the kennel. The cats were watching, so I scooped him up with a large plastic shovel into an empty bin, carried him out the gate and deposited him safely in the grassy ditch.
Back in the game I had been killed so I grabbed a quad bike and Gavin hopped on board. This was the final base in Valparasio and I drove the vehicle like a mad man. We bumped over rocks, flew into the air, down to the far right and up again, flying into the air on occasion before flanking the base. That was exhilarating! We took out a number of enemy. I knifed a sniper before heading over to Alpha and arming that. Took out a few defenders and got the crate! 250 points, thank you!
My KDR increased to 0.76, W/L ration is 1.40 and I’m level 24 now. I unlocked an engineer’s weapon too but can’t remember which one right now.
Swimming is good
The last tip by cardsnumber7 in the video above paid off big time for me in a recent game of Bad Company 2. On Arica Harbour, the 3rd base, swim as far as you can and you’ll surprise a few people.
I shot a sniper who was climbing a ladder, but got killed shortly afterwards. The second time some of my team followed me but they got out at the previous ladder.
A medic was standing right over the ladder watching the water but didn’t see me. When he left his position I snuck up and put a few rounds in him! I took out several other snipers too, discouraging them from using a high crane as a vantage point. Unfortunately my broadband disconnected but thankfully my stats were saved.
The latest patch for Bad Company 2 makes…
The latest patch for Bad Company 2 makes “playing for the objective” a lot more rewarding! Arming an MCOM station and blowing it up earns you 250 points rather than 100 points as it was previously. Looks like defensive kills are now 50 points extra, 20 points more. I presume the scores have gone up for the opposite too.
I played yesterday evening with Mick and Conor in different games and boy were they tough. A lot more people were playing for the objective by defending and attacking the crates. So much so that I think I only disarmed one crate the whole night! Saying that, in our last game on Port Valdez we were defending and successfully stopped the enemy taking Alpha. I had my crosshairs trained on that crate for a good few minutes and took down any enemies that snuck past the rest of our defenses.
On that same map, but while attacking I was trying to trace the Hind helicopter, watching it skim over the buildings in the distance when it’s nose clipped some scenery. It did a back flip, head over heels, but somehow continued flying!
It was fun knifing the guy on the UAV on that map. After the second base most of my team retreated but I hung back, got 2 kills and went looking for the UAV stand. Spotted it and probably gave the operator quite a surprise!
Anyway, my KDR suffered, I got my third gold star for the AN-94, and used the M16 a bit. Got owned several times by medics at close range. That was the most frustrating experience, and partly down to tiredness and forgetting to pump the trigger finger. When I remembered to do it, the AN-94 is a devastating weapon.
I also made it to level 23, and I’ve put 48 hours of my life into this game!
Bad Company 2 grief

Assault Class Guide, Attacking on Port Valdez (via Nightmare Mode)
Patricia posted a fairly comprehensive guide to attacking on Port Valdez. It’s long but worth the read, although I’d like to hear her opinion of using the attic attack on Alpha 1.
Sure, it’s not really necessary to use it but if you put C4 on the doors any defenders will blow themselves up when they enter!
(First go at reblogging!)
This post is part of an ongoing series of highly detailed strategy guides for Battlefield Bad Company 2 here at Nightmare Mode. This post assumes that you have read the first 10 basic tips, because a lot of the strategies are not possible without them. Please also note that this post does not always contain pictures of what is being spoken of…it is assumed that you play the game enough to know what parts of the map are being described. It really baffles me why Modern Warfare …
It really baffles me why Modern Warfare 2 is played more than Bad Company 2. Dice got so many things right and the game doesn’t suffer from the numerous bugs MW2 does.
I really can’t understand why the complainers, the most vocal dissenters still play it and don’t move on to greener pastures.
One thing Dice have done really well is patching problems and bugs. The last patch balanced lots of weapons (uuga uuga) but also changed the dynamics of air warfare by speeding up the tracer dart. A a new patch is due tomorrow morning on PS3, with a patch on Xbox to follow and has one fix that could change many player’s gameplay in rush or conquest games.
Increased the reward points for Objective Actions (Flag Cap/Assist, Arm/Disarm/Destroy/Damage/TeamDestroy/TeamDamage)
I hope they bump up the score by a decent amount to encourage players to “play for the objective” instead of hanging back to mind their precious KDR. In this game your Win/Loss ratio is more important.
SDM on White Pass
oplim77 posted a great Bad Company 2 SDM match with strategy tips for White Pass.
Why is it that I always join a game of B…
Why is it that I always join a game of Bad Company 2 defending on Nelson Bay when I play alone?
I just “rage quit” when I joined a game where the final Bravo crate was all lit up. I didn’t even enter the game, just turned back and quit.
Later… Conor and Dave got online afterwards and we had a few games. Won maybe 2 of them, and lost badly on Laguna Preza. Dave has more on his blog.
It’s really disheartening to join a game right at the end of the match. I spent almost an hour looking for a fame where I wasn’t defending the last or second last base. Obviously the game engine has a warped sense of how “good” I am and thinks I can turn the tide on a rout!
MY KDR for the evening was 0.68 according to this history page. The increase of my global KDR to 0.74 happened before I played last night! Luckily it didn’t go down.
Later still … Dave posted what I consider the best Bad Company 2 video on Youtube, ever! This sniper was annoying as hell, I couldn’t figure out where he was as he got several one-hit kills so the damage indicator was no use! I remember Dave said he teabagged him, but it’s so delicious actually seeing it.
Had a few mostly forgettable games of Ba…
Had a few mostly forgettable games of Bad Company 2 on the Xbox this afternoon. On all but one game I ended up on teams that were being hammered and usually on the last or second last base.
Last one was pretty good though. We were defending on Isla and stopped the enemy on the first base. We got best squad and I got the second highest score in our team. Thankfully one member of my squad was a medic who revived me a few times. At other times there were 2 recon and as usual standing well back.
Again I was surprised that it appeared only 2 members of our team were engineers. I tracered a few helicopters and so did the other guy but almost everyone was a medic. The lonely assault guy I spotted on our team near Bravo ignored my calls for ammo, when I ran out of tracer darts. Bah. Still, the bad guys had learnt their lesson, using the Apache as a transport vehicle and crashing into the crates.
Oh yeah, I just remembered that I got at least 1 teamkill, and probably 2. I took down Alpha 2 on Isla by shooting the back of the building. Unfortunately a squad member was standing next to the building and got taken out by the falling dust. Someone else may have been in the building. Pity they didn’t have a mic to warn me.
I unlocked the engineer’s 4x scope, and alt vehicle weapons.
