Meanwhile, I logged into my server and found a sky high railway connecting Tye’s lighthouse with Andy’s treehouse, and an odd contraption Andy built that I must ask him about because a nearby sign says you should “insert arrows here”. Cool.

Minecraft: Gargamel
- Launch Minecraft and make sure you update to the 1.3 beta.
- Go into the single player menu and create a new world. Use “gargamel” as the seed.
- Get out of the dark cave (exit high up on the left) and go, ‘Wow!’

Minecraft 1.3, with beds
Well, they say Minecraft is addictive. Now you can lie down while you deal with your addiction. Version 1.3 includes beds and I read somewhere that you’ll respawn in the last bed you’ve slept in but don’t quote me on that! If you’ve had Minecraft open on your machine for some time make sure you close and reopen it to update the client.
Bukkit hasn’t been updated yet so warps and the /home function on the Minecraft server don’t work.
Once the 1.3 update has quietened down and I know all plugins are ok I’m tempted to enable mobs and deop everyone to make things more interesting. Make sure your building is well lit and defensible!
Minecraft to appear on iPhone, iPad and Android
Woohoo! Looks like Minecraft will be coming to mobile handsets later this year according to Kotaku!
I wonder how they’ll distribute that, will current players have to buy the client again or will it be a free download, but requiring the Minecraft login (that costs money)?
The Best Game Intro
I think the intro to the original Left 4 Dead has to rate as one of the best game intros I’ve ever seen. Great stuff.
Unfortunately when I play the game I can’t hear any sound. Bah.
Update! Someone mentioned on Twitter that Dead Island had a better intro. Strictly speaking, it’s a trailer but boy does it pull at your heart strings. F*cked up. I logged into my Minecraft server yesterday evening to see a stunning WordPress logo up on a hill. It was created by Thorsten. No it wasn’t. Author remains unknown. I wonder who created it?
I really must get that Minecraft commmentary done so I can show off what he and everyone else created in this world..
Sony bans PS3 jailbreak users
If you’ve jailbroken your PS3 then you probably shouldn’t go online until you reverse the jailbreak. Sony has started banning users who use jailbroken PS3 consoles online! The ban is permanent and worldwide.

In the old days it was only Microsoft who were banning their users en-masse but now Sony have to do it as well. I wonder if Nintendo will ever do the same thing?

Petition to allow game button remapping
Colin reposted a video by Chuck Bittner, a disabled gamer who is collecting signatures in support of his petition to get game companies to allow remapping of controller buttons.
Here’s the petition and a FAQ about it.
Even if you don’t care about other gamers, then sign it for selfish reasons. If this became a standard (and hell, back in the 80’s you could remap the keys used in almost every game. It’s not rocket science!) then you’ll be able to customize every game you play just the way you like.
I just signed the petition and so have over 40,000 others. If you play games please sign it too.
