Meanwhile, videos have started to appear on ye olde Youtube..

So, thumbs up from a number of Youtube commentators. Apparently lag has been pretty bad on all versions, particularly the consoles. Hopefully they’ll get that sorted out.
I’m actually enjoying Halo Reach and wishing it was multi platform so I could play in a game with my friends on the Playstation 3, but maybe the next Bungie game will give us that opportunity. I briefly considered buying a PVR as all the cool kids are doing that, but Bungie Pro is cheap enough, and you can render 50 minutes of gameplay for US$5 which won’t break the bank. If I feel motivated enough to try that, add a voice over and upload it, then I’ll splash the cash. It’s not as if I get amazing gameplay all the time but I do have my moments.
If you have a super fast Internet connection you probably watch all your Youtube videos at their maximum resolution. Most gaming videos are uploaded at 720p which looks absolutely stunning but:
So I rarely watch videos in 720p. I know, I know. Sorry David and all you other commentators who spend hours rendering videos in high resolution. Even watching a video in 360p can be a challenge sometimes.
Watching videos on the iPad Youtube app is a lesson in patience. By default it picks a high quality setting and can’t be changed. If I view the video in Safari I can unclick the HQ button, but I think it changes the video quality to 240p as the quality is really bad.
So, what video resolution do you watch Youtube videos in? On a related note, what resolution do you watch WordPress.com VideoPress videos in? I find they can sometimes stream a lot better …
Yes, it looks great. Looking forward to playing the campaign on this one. Loved the World at War campaign, and it even makes a pretty good coop game too, eh Mike? (via)
Good coupleofgames of Halo Reach Firefight there with Meech, Alex and Paul. All of us either blogging on WordPress.com or working for Automattic. 🙂
Despite the atrocious lag we had lots of fun. The lag was so bad that the game would stall or stutter every 10 seconds or so while it waited on players, or swapped hosts. Very frustrating.
Edit: Teamkills are bound to happen and they’re always regrettable. Alex killed me when he was driving one of the alien tank thingies. Never mind because I got him back. Later on Glacier I had a huge laser weapon and I was targeting an enemy tank. Unfortunately at the exact moment I fired Alex took control of it. We weren’t exactly helped by lag either. 🙁
Theatre mode in Halo Reach is very powerful, allowing you to replay recent games and even upload them to Bungie. I’ve uploaded this particular game and took a few screenshots. Here’s one very memorable moment!
As the guys from work are going to be playing Halo Reach on Sunday evening I better get some practice in. I’ve still only played 24 games so I’m an utter noob at the game.
In the meantime take a gander at the video above. Some good tips for those of us who have never (or rarely) played a Halo game before this.
B3ndro gives some great tips for Halo Reach in the video above. He mentioned using Octagon as a means to practice so I went searching … It’s basically a small octagonal map, big enough for 1 vs 1 game and by the looks of things handy for aiming and practicing headshots!
Hutch vs GoldGlove
Hutch vs someone else but you can see some of the same gameplay. He throws a grenade in the opposite corner a few times, hoping to get a spawn kill I’m sure.
I’m starting to get into the Campaign in Halo Reach now. I have to admit that after the space battle I was sort of disappointed there was no Elite style docking sequence and classical music to accompany me in…
(From the BBC version, which didn’t have the excellent music of the C64 version)
Oh, I played Halo Reach multiplayer last night and had my ass whooped again. I did get one lucky break. I had my sights on one guy and another stepped in front of him and I got a double kill! Wooh!
After that trouncing I booted up the PS3 and hopped into Onslaught where I had some great games, beating my best scores on Isla and Valparaiso!
One of the highlights of COD World at War is the zombie mode. No screaming, singing teenagers! Video above is a bit NSFW but it’s funny. You have been warned! (via)
