WordPress in my Minecraft
I logged into my Minecraft server yesterday evening to see a stunning WordPress logo up on a hill. It was created by Thorsten. No it wasn’t. Author remains unknown. I wonder who created it?
I really must get that Minecraft commmentary done so I can show off what he and everyone else created in this world..
MAME saves the day
Arcade emulator MAME saved the day for a software developer working on a mobile port of Spy Hunter.
Fascinating read about extracting the assets from the game to speed up development. Shame how the lawyers treated the guy who extracted the sound effects! (via)
Get Angry Birds for free on Android!
The good people at GetJar.com are now offering Angry Birds as a free download for mobile phones running Android.
The game is ad supported but as far as I can see, adverts appear at the start of the level and don’t appear on each one so they’re not intrusive. Works flawlessly on my Samsung Galaxy S too. Great job!
Oh, you might have to wait a while before downloading. The GetJar website is currently down, but persevere and you’ll get it!
This advert disappeared after a few seconds.

Destroy web pages with the simple bookmarklet from this page. Clicking the button on that page will launch a small Asteroids-like ship you can fly around a web pages shooting at the page elements and blowing them up. Fun.
The PS3 is broken, long live the PS3
You may have read that a USB dongle went on sale that basically put Playstation 3s into debug mode, thus allowing you to do things not normally allowed. Well, Sony sued and stopped them selling it, but of course the software on the dongle has been reverse engineered and made available online.
Where is the code? Well, slashdot linked to it. It’s on github and there’s a slight mod required to play “backups” of games. On a brighter note, any potential pirates will need a compiler to use the code but I guess it’s only a matter of time before a USB iso becomes available.
I hope Sony figure out a way to stop this working. It’s bad news for software publishers if users can copy their games by just plugging a USB dongle into their machine.
Married people are better gamers?
Well, perhaps not but it’s interesting that they might be able to handle stress better than singletons if the study I read about in the Sunday Times is right.
On the other hand they probably have kids so that puts a huge limit on the amount of time one has to devote to gaming!
Oh, I don’t really believe my post title. I’m usually so tired by the time I play games I get trounced. This was a post to try out the Android WordPress app here. Works a treat!

Games Inspired by Music
Boing Boing recently ran a games inspired by music competition and a few of the entries were posted yesterday. Almost all will run in your browser, some are flash, some HTML5, and some unfortunately require other plugins to run.
I’m downloading Sean Monahan’s game, Beat Boost (entry page) at the moment but there’s also Knife Attack, Flatwar, Space Junk, Arctic Trek, Gobber Assault, Bounty Hunter and Infiltration.

Dave worried about the effect some types of games might have on younger people but I bet he didn’t think of this. (Make sure you hover over the cartoon!)
