WP Super Cache 0.9.9.7

WP Super Cache is a full page caching plugin for WordPress that makes your website run much faster!

I’ve just released a new version and the biggest change in this one is the addition of Content Delivery Network (CDN) support thanks to Mark Kubacki who allowed me to integrate his OSSDL CDN Off Linker plugin. (Please go visit his blog and say thank you if you use this feature!)

The CDN support simply rewrites images, CSS and Javascript files so they point at a different hostname. That hostname can be another virtual host on your own server (aka “Poor Man’s CDN”) pointing at your WordPress install or a fully fledged CDN. If your CDN supports “origin pull” then all the files on your server will be copied there as they are requested by visitors. Otherwise you’ll have to transfer the files over manually.

Apart from that, bugs have been fixed, a few features have been tweaked including the uninstall script which has been streamlined somewhat.

I also added links (on the “Easy” settngs page) to some plugins and tools you may find useful in making your site run faster.

Problems? Go to the forum and someone may already have had that problem and solved it. If not, post there and you’ll get a reply.

I’ve said it before (maybe in my head, …

I’ve said it before (maybe in my head, but probably in this video) but watching other players in the theater mode in Black Ops is enlightening.

Sometimes I’m outgunned but more often than not it’s because I rush around too much and I’m easy pickings for those with more patience. I’m no Pyropuncher, by a long shot.

So what should a level 9 Black Ops player do? My favourite weapon class is the assault rifle but I’ve only unlocked the Enfield so far. It can be effective but against higher level players I’m outgunned.

I need to play more defensively, I think.

I watched a game I played last night in which I went 6-13 on Jungle (it’s in my recent games list) and it was interesting seeing the highest scoring player play in Theater. He went around with a shotgun and played brilliantly. In one confrontation he jumped out of a hut flanking three enemy soldiers and took them all down. Later however he grabbed a sniper rifle and lay on the ground for a good 20 seconds with the scope on trained on one location. Guess who was unlucky enough to go (slowly and warily) around that corner? Yeah, I still recall thinking he must have been a little camping fecker to get that kill…

So what are your favourite assault loadouts? Duck was using the galil and that motion detector along with his RC car. I watched Mike use that motion detector too in a game of domination but I don’t know if I’ve unlocked it yet. I’m currently using the Enfield with extended mags with hardline, sleight of hand and ninja perks and my global KDR is 0.75.

What would you do?

Bad Company 2: the one with epic failures

A few weeks ago we played a few games of Bad Company 2 on Isla Inocentes. My team won the first one, but lost the second one. KDR was rubbish in both but they were great games.

Can’t wait for the next map pack and Vietnam expansion!

Update! Here’s what that oh so brilliant helicopter flying looked like from Duck’s point of view .. I won’t be teaching flying lessons any time soon.

COD Black Ops Updated

Good news today! Black Ops has been updated! Lots and lots of fixes in this patch but one I’m really excited about is one right at the end:

Additional fine-tuning of audio levels and ranges for footsteps and gunfire

Maybe now I’ll be able to hear the baddies in my headphones and Ninja will be useful. (Thanks Mike for the heads up on the update!)

(And please DICE staff, if you’re reading this. We’re still looking forward to the next installment of BfBC2 expansions. BLOPS is simply a stop gap until map pack 7 and the Vietnam expansion are released!)

Update (2010-11-18) The post linked above has been updated with 2 very important changes:

Improvements to the spawn system to resolve an issue where negative spawn influencers from specific game events were not always being deleted after the danger had cleared – in some matches, this was causing good spawns to be erroneously flagged by the game as bad spawns, which in turn forced actual bad spawns to get selected later in the match
Experimental slight reduction in knife lunge range – this is a trial change

Have you noticed these changes?

The Battlefield Vietnam Pack

The postman delivered a small package this morning from Sweden. It was the Battlefield Vietnam Pack I won on Monday!

The kit includes a compass marked “ENGINEER DIRECTIONAL COMPASS”, a multi tool, torch and AAA batteries, all in a medal tin. The compass and torch are made of plastic, but the multi tool is nice stainless steel.

Thanks again Daniel for holding the competition, and especially for picking me out of the bag! 🙂
