I saw the Philips DVD-R610 DVD Recorder in Tesco this evening priced at 249 Euro. I was tempted to buy but decided to look up reviews instead. Doesn’t look like a good buy at all! The reviews above are all scathing and negative!

Digital SLR cameras: Canon Digital Rebel and Nikon D70s
Good run-down of the Canon Digital Rebel and Nikon D70s in this article by Philip Greenspun.
Digital single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras are the standard tool for serious photographers. With the recent introduction of cameras such as the Nikon D80 and the Canon Digital Rebel XTi the market for digital SLR cameras has expanded tremendously. A point-and-shoot compact digital camera can offer reasonably good image quality but a digital SLR, which usually looks a lot like an old standard 35mm film camera and may use the same lenses, offers the following advantages:
* accurate, large, and bright optical viewfinder
* fast operation and large controls
* excellent image quality in low “available” light situations when it is necessary to use higher ISO speeds
* interchangeable lenses

photoSIG – Torc Waterfall
We went down to Killarney this afternoon, and while there visited Torc Waterfall. It’s a beautiful location, the walk up to it is through a tree covered path surrounded by green-mossy rock and vegetation. I snapped a few shots up there so imagine my surprise when I saw that someone had posted a photo of the falls on Photosig a few minutes ago!
It’s unlike any of the ones I took, and it’s nice for me to see a different perspective on a beautiful scene!
All that beer…
What a waste!
In other news, deer and other wild animals were spotted stumbling along in an unusual manner yesterday.

Dana Elcar, 'MacGyver' actor dies at 77
Dana Elcar, MacGyver’s boss in the hit series died on Monday at the age of 77. I can only presume there are very few people from 25 and up who never saw MacGyver. It was certainly a favourite of my brothers and I! What that guy could do with a pen knife and duct tape.
Dana Elcar was the balding boss, Pete, who sent MacGyver on his missions. Remember he went blind towards the end of the series? That’s because in real life he suffered from glaucoma, and he lost his sight.
Thanks for all the good times Dana!

Is Bush a Sith Lord?
Is Bush a Sith Lord? – go on, lap it up!
The current episode of Star Wars is dynamite for the duplicitous Bush administration. Palpatine, a Sith Lord masquerading as a galactic Republican, becomes Chancellor of the Galactic Republic through deception. Palpatine uses wars that he instigates to elevate security over the power of the Senate and to become dictator.
