It really sucks when your squad is the only one attacking. Or at least it seems that way. In our last game there we lost but it felt like the rest of our team was just hanging back. It’s not as if it benefited them. We got best squad and our lowest score was easily 500 points above the nearest one below.
Some tough games of Bad Company 2 tonight but my KDR remains at 0.82. I played half an hour of Singularity first. I’m enjoying that game. The shotgun makes progress so much easier! π
Edit: David got on just after I left, here’s his blog post about his rather different experience. Me? I’m up at 6am this morning. *yawn*
Geoff announced Hupit Gaming in his latest video. I’d swear I remember him talking about that before but Colin reminded me of it this morning so I registered.
At the end of this video Geoff gives a run down of how different parts of the site work. It has a very neat sharing gamertag section where you can search for other players to play with.
I feel old now because I appear to be the oldest BC2 player in Europe on the site. Oh dear. Look for either my XBL or PSN username or simply the username “donncha” to see my gamer profile.
Gaming meets social media! Well done to Geoff and WoodysGamertag for spotting a niche in the gaming world and creating a valuable website.
Now, some suggestions and bugs I found:
This ars review of Blacklight: Tango Down is quite scathing. What caught my attention though was this paragraph:
Also note that the game also uses the Massive network to deliver advertising to the game, which means every billboard and poster is advertising a real-world product. The game has a futuristic aesthetic, and the ads stick out in an uncomfortable way. If blatant advertising is a turn-off, this is not your game.
No other review mentioned the adverts so maybe they didn’t turn them on until recently. I didn’t see them in any Youtube footage of the game either. Anyone else noticed the adverts?
The game has been out for a little while now. That initial “something new” glow has to have worn off by now. Is it worth the purchase price?
If you’ve played Little Big Planet recently you’ll have come across the name “Stephanie Raven” numerous times. Somehow she gets her levels on the first of the “Cool Levels” planet all the time.
I first figured out that something was wrong when I played a level that looked eerily familiar but didn’t have the familiar face on it to denote I finished it. She’s not the only one. This thread was near the top of a search for her name and pointed at this one about Clay_20_November, another LBP spammer.
It’s a pretty sad way to spend your time if you have to copy LBP levels and post them as your own for validation in this life.
These days I skip forward a few pages to find newer levels and that helps. There are some stunning levels hidden in there!
I think I have to agree with Damien. This is the best trailer for a conference ever!
It’s for The Dot Conf in Dublin on July 22nd. I won’t be going but there’s a great line up of speakers!
Colin featured the following video by Coyno on his channel yesterday and I think it’s worth posting here. Bad Company 2 squad tactics on Valparaiso.
I’ve only watched part 1 but I love how they distracted the enemy while someone else on their team got the plant on the one remaining crate. Having been on the receiving end of that type of attack I can tell you it’s highly effective!
More after the break ..

The Red Dragon gives BlackLight Tango Down the thumbs up! Check out his review below, and a beginner’s guide. I have to try out the demo on XBL again!

This Penny Arcade cartoon may be about Battlefield 1943 but it applies equally well to Bad Company 2.
One time I took off with Mike in the back seat, and err, somehow landed upside down. Thankfully we both got out unscathed! π
I’m glad David made his latest smoke post a few days ago. I’ve been running it more and more since and it helped on Valpairaso last night. We were defending (Hi Conor!) and pushed back to the third base, but we were fighting all the way.
The attackers seemed to have an abundance of wookies who liked nothing better than to lay up on the hill firing mortar strikes and shooting into the village. Along with a light tank they did devastating damage to the buildings there. My attention was mostly on the tank but when I cottoned on that wookies were busy I put down a load of smoke on their hill. I think I made them mad. Even their UAV came after me! My KDR was shocking but they never got the last crate. We successfully disarmed it a few times under cover of smoke!
Unfortunately for one of my squad, he left and I got killed by him a few minutes later! Should have stayed with the winning team!
Earlier I had a game with Mike, and we stopped the enemy at the first base on that map. I joined late but still managed to down a helicopter or two!
My KDR was briefly 0.83 before last night’s game but it’s dropped back to 0.82 again. My skill level nose dived by 192 points too! I guess I’ll be first into game and invite the rest of you, eh?
Oh! Run vehicle smoke before you get on the UAV! I knew it could fire smoke but didn’t realise it fires 3 smoke canisters that creates a huge cloud of smoke! I tried it on Isla but unfortunately not enough of our team took advantage of it.
