Shaun of the Dead – mini review
Myself and Mel went to see Shaun of the Dead last night. What a blast! hehe. It’s a completely off the wall zombie movie, and much better than 28 Days later (OK, I’m possibly in the small minority who thinks that movie was crap!)
I absoluately loved the jokes and the dark humour! Early in the film, we burst out laughing as the two main characters, Shaun and Ed, bashed in the heads and mutilated 2 zombies that were in their back garden! I don’t remember hearing anyone else laugh (the rest of the audience was possibly shocked!) but it didn’t take them long to realise this was a spoof horror taking the mickey out of the genre!
There’s the small touches, like the supermarket-clerk zombie with her name tag on (Mary?), or the groom from the shop who’s lost an arm, or the zombie-boy who still kicks the ball..
And I love the ending. 🙂
Go see it, it’s a good ‘un!
Web Design Practices
I’m almost certain I linked to this site before, but I’m clearing up my open tabs and it looks like something I want to read later.
And further on the design topic, 10 things that you don’t learn in design school, or any school for that matter. The points raised here apply equally well to any facet of life!
95 percent of any creative profession is shit work.

PhotoMemes.org – Infectious Photo Projects
This website lists quite a few “photo memes” or photo projects that people are running. Sounds like a good idea to me!
b2++ Post Titles in URLs
Here’s another minor b2++ update. I added the blog post titles to permalinks, The title isn’t used to find the actual post, it’s simply there for search engines to find and index.
It should help somewhat in your rankings if you select your post titles carefully!
Nothing to see here, go away!
Mike Johnston looks at the photo an amateur photographer took on board a cargo plane. This follows on from my previous post on this. Mike’s updating his story as he hears more.
Powerful images, can I print this?
Matt posted a picture of Bush that’s made up from the photos of soldiers killed in Iraq. I heard this was printed in the Mirror Newspaper yesterday. It’s a controversial picture, and Matt received 408 comments on this post!
In related news, a woman lost her job because she took photos of a flag shrouded coffins in a cargo plane. One of the realities of war not broadcast to the public “at home.”
Lights Over Dublin!
Until May 3rd 22 powerful searchlights are going to light up the Dublin sky at night. You can control the lights from their website and it’s apparently very impressive! Maybe I should make my way up to Dublin in the next 2 weeks? I still haven’t seen the Spire and I should, before it rusts away..
Say "Bye Bye!" to your our old photos!
The reliability of CDRs and writeable digital media in general came up for discussion on Slashdot yesterday (as it does every 6 months or so), but Mark posts that CD-Rs may become unreadable after only 2 years! Damn, that’s scary as I’m archiving my photos to DVD-R now. I’ll probably rewrite my photos next year just to be safe. Check out Mark’s post for a comment I left there with more..
