Duncan of Blairs Inn was giving out free samples of their delicious beef stew along with samples from other local restaurants at the festival in Blarney today.
Delicious stuff, and Blairs Inn is a great place to go for a meal too. Only been there once but we had a great meal there. Recommended.
If you know me well, you may know I love the music of Queen. I never had the pleasure of seeing them live unfortunately but I’ve been to a number of Queen inspired events, Flash Harry played in Cobh a few years ago and there was Queen at the Ballet too. (Thanks Ken, Aisling, Proinnsias, Sinead!)
So I jumped at the chance to see Queen tribute band, Killer Queen when they played in the Opera House recently. They were good, some parts were great, and Brighton Rock was absolutely amazing even if I got the feeling some people in the audience didn’t know that song.
Killer Queen are a blast. The crowd loved them. Of the three performances I thought Flash Harry was the best but you’ll have a great time at Killer Queen too.
One of the videos from The Irish Blog Awards celebrated the repeated demise of Irish blogging.

We were originally going to be walking in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Blarney but our son fell asleep a few minutes ago, and it wouldn’t be fair on him to drag him out unfortunately. We did visit the “farmers market” this morning however and I took a few photos. They’re really only snapshots but I hope you enjoy them, especially if you have visited Blarney.
This is probably the few times in the year that you’ll see this many locals near Blarney Castle! 😉

I was in Dublin yesterday to see Matt and Craig become Honorary Patrons of The University Philosophical Society in Trinity College. It was a low key informal event with many students and a few staff in attendance.
Eamon Leonard, of Echo Libre, kindly used my Flip Mino to record the Q&A session that followed. I want to express my gratitude to him for doing a fine job, especially as I saw him switch the camera from arm to arm during the hour long event. It wasn’t easy holding the camera aloft for so long. I’m currently transcoding the video and trying to make it smaller before uploading it.
I’ll add it to this post later, you won’t want to miss it!

A round up of a few videos and photos of the flooding in Cork last month.
Panciostela drove from Victoria Cross up the Carrigrohane Straight to Windsor Motors and posted 3 videos along the way, shooting the flood in the Kingsley Hotel last. Any vehicles in the underground carpark there must have been completely destroyed.

Last year I voted no to Lisbon and despite reading about the controlling superstate in “Vulcan’s Hammer”, as a consequence of the fictional Lisbon Laws I’ll be voting yes today.
More than anything else, the “No to Lisbon” campaign has convinced me to vote that way. Thanks.
This weekend we stayed in “Aisling Heights”, a B&B in Clonakilty, County Cork while attending my cousins wedding in the area.
It was my first time in a long time staying in a B&B but I think I may be back because it was a great place to stay. After ringing them, we were met in the town and guided back and helped with our bags.
All the rooms in the house were immaculate and exquisitely decorated. As (bad) luck would have it I didn’t photograph the rooms themselves but check out the photos of the hallway and living room below! If you’re tired of staying in yet another shabby, run down hotel, give this B&B a go. Beds are fairly comfortable, rooms are nice and large and light pours in as there is plenty of space around the building. Breakfast is fine, lovely fry up, toast, tea and cereal and it was very competitive at 35 Euro each for the night.
Our 2yro Adam stayed for free although they didn’t have a travel cot so we brought our own.
Anyway, many hotels in this price range (and more expensive!) are in a shabby state of repair and understaffed, so you owe it to yourself to spoil yourself with the picturesque surroundings of this delightful B&B. Call them at +353-23-8833491. (More photos and details are available on this page.)
About time I posted these. The Blog Awards took place in Cork this year, last February, and before the big night, a good number of photographers wandered around Cork City. I posted several IBA09 photos on my photoblog already but here are a few more:
BTW – if you’re in Cork next weekend, there are still places left in the photowalk! I haven’t decided where we should go after the walk but it’ll probably be The Old Oak as they have plenty of room.

At least make the effort to look up the blog author’s name and send them an email. I would have gladly plugged Kinsale Arts Week if they had been polite. Big Bad Fail.
