Tracer darts are a lot faster in Bad Company 2 post-patch so if you’re flying a helicopter make sure you have smoke to disable any tracer. Seems to be some concern that smoke in the PC version doesn’t work unfortunately. There’s also flares. This tutorial suggests,
The Blackhawk has anti missile flares that can be deployed by using RB if you have V ALT WEP equiped. This greatly increases its survivability because it makes it nearly impossible to hit with missiles if you spam your flares.
Geoff demonstrates removing tracers from a heli with smoke.
I wish Den used WordPress to blog. It’d make it easier to keep an eye on updates to his Bad Company 2 weapon stats. He has updated the stats to reflect changes in the patched PC version this morning. Compare these stats to the old weapon stats I posted a few weeks ago.
In the first game of rush I played with Dave, Geoff and SK we joined on Isla, attacking the final base. I laid down a load of smoke on Alpha while the others attacked and took the base and then did the same with Bravo. I was unfortunate to be killed once but we destroyed the other team 🙂
Positive KDR? Yes! Time to celebrate! Get out the bubbly! My overall stats didn’t improve all the much as Dave and myself had a few games by ourselves where we didn’t do so well. Nobody joined our squad and we were definitely at a disadvantage.
I unlocked the XM8 Compact and red dot sight (assault), MG36 (medic), tank smoke and got a gold star for the M60!
I realised while lying in bed last night how we might have taken Bravo in the second base on Laguna Presa. We were continually pushed back by medics and assault guys who congregated on the hill in front of the base. They could pick us off at their leisure from behind the cover of bushes.
What we should have done is gone back for a tank and/or driven up the side road that ends in a cul-de-sac (it’s across a narrow stream). It overlooks Bravo AFAIR. One or two guys up there could have supported a successful push onto the base.
In case you haven’t seen my iMP component cable review this morning, it’s been updated. It’ll be ditched as soon as I get replacement cables from Amazon. Bloody expensive business this.
PS. Check out Geoff’s latest video. Good game of defence there.
We had a few games with Geoff and Sokeil (I think is his name?) tonight and rocked most of the time, right until Geoff left and the defenders on Laguna Presa were just too strong, even with us laying down covering smoke on the base. Not sure where the rest of our team were but I think we were probably the strongest squad on our side. All the games were very close, both defending and attacking.
I got a chance to really evaluate the iMP cable too and to be honest I’m not happy with it. That score of 3/5 is getting changed to a 1/5. The picture quality is just too bad. I’ll update that post with more details shortly.
I unlocked a pile of things this evening. Can’t remember what but I there was at least one gun, and smoke for tanks. I’ll check tomorrow.
Oh yeah, I took advantage of the Isla MCOM building bug mentioned in my last post. Nice 100 points for taking it out! 🙂
Here’s the list of changes coming on Wednesday for Battlefield Bad Company 2.
I presume those changes are for the PC version. The PS3 version will probably be patched next and the Xbox 360 version might take a while if past experience with MW2 is anything to go by.
Some changes that stood out for me:
Added support for colour blind players
Isla Innocentes MCOM building fixed where knifing the fence would destroy the building
Added weapon balance tweaks to a number of weapons – we are eagerly awaiting feedback!
I’m not colour blind but this was a bitter bone of contention for some MW2 players. They haven’t mentioned what weapons will be balanced but I’m guessing the M60 will be affected.
We aren’t going to tell you what weapon balance tweaks we have done, we want your unbiased views on the changes before we detail what has changed.
Changes can be discussed on their forum here. (via)
Well, except when you’re a medic and you dart two tanks in a row but it appears that nobody wants to take advantage of the fact. That happened to me when I was on the hill leading down to the first base on Port Valdez. I darted their helicopter from afar on the last base but nobody took it for a spin. Oh well. We won that game anyway.
Arica Harbour was a lot more fun. Dart a tank, hide behind a rock and lock on. Aim into the sky and fire. Boom! Got 4 tanks in 2 rounds but lost the game eventually. Even after my daring “hop off the speeding transport outside Alpha and kill as many bad guys as possible” stunt. Got a double kill and lots of points! Oh well.
I even got my highest ever KDR, 2.33 or something. Good couple of games on the Xbox.
bigMooney06 shows off a few ways you should use and not use the UAV in Battlefield Bad Company 2. Great commentary, though slightly NSFW or young ears!
