I bought one of those universal remote controls on Saturday and promptly broke it when I tried to upgrade it via the web. It’s a One For All model and thankfully they had a support line I could ring from Ireland. I rang them this morning and I’m amazed. Customer service was excellent! They were polite, talked me through reseting the remote (fixed it:) and then suggested codes to try and get my DVD player working with it (rebadged Scan model), but to no avail. I even managed to upgrade the remote twice over the phone which was impressive!
Finally, they suggested I send them scans of what the remote looks like so I’ll email them shortly, and hopefully someone there will recognise the player. I think I’ll email Scan too. Stay tuned!
