I’m sure that’s what was going through the mind of the driver in front me who braked suddenly and stopped in the middle of the road to shout abuse at his friends in another car. Lovely.
Even if you’re not Irish or don’t know anything about Irish history you’ll still probably find The Rising funny. It’s a short animation featuring the main players of the 1916 Rising as members of the R Team as they battle today’s politicians and institutions!
Warning, sense of humour required. I bet someone will ring Joe Duffy’s show to complain about this over the next few days!

I listened to one podcast, no, maybe two podcasts in their entirety. One promised a keyword for a competition to win a camera or some prize, and the other was Mark and Ciaran’s Nightsight, a videocast which I enjoyed despite not mentioning Web 2.0 anywhere! Maybe that was a good thing, considering the objective of the movie..
In a similar vein, all the videos on blogs thanks to youtube are great! Even though Pomme and Kelly were among the most popular bloggers on WordPress.com for the past few weeks I only saw their version of Respect this morning. They are the very first Google Idols apparently. They’re a little mad aren’t they? 🙂
I just got off the phone with a man named Brendan saying he wasn’t from Eircom tele-sales who proceeded to say, “You aren’t a customer of Eircom’s any more” or something similar. Before he could say anything else I informed him that I was fairly certain this was an illegal act ringing me because we’d signed up to the National Do Not Call Registry National Directory Database (thanks Adam!). He quickly apologised but I’m still angry. We signed up to that list way back in November 2005 and despite some delay by UTV I know we’re on it now.
If I remember correctly, this was the second time he rang. The last time being several months ago. It’s not often you get a sales-pitch from someone with a country accent! Unfortunately I don’t remember his surname or his company.
The list hasn’t stopped the recorded message scams however. As soon as I hear that recorded voice or a ringing phone line I hang up.
The Data Protection Commission has a useful faq too.

If you’ve ever watched Maebh look for a boyfriend or a husband on Naked Camera, you may have wondered where they got the idea for that.. I snapped this poster outside of the men’s clothes shop the first episode featured. (You know the one, where the poor lad was single, but then magically was engaged when Maebh freaked him out! Oh, that would apply to any episode!)
I mentioned elsewhere that Matt announced tags feeds this morning but I thought this should get more of a plug because it’s such a great feature!
When you write a post on WordPress.com it’s categorised in the usual way but it’s also added to a site-wide pool of posts and identified by a global category. Matt’s announcement this morning means that I can track what people are talking about photography, photos, gimp and even wordpress all from the comfort of my aggregator!
Now, how best to encourage people to rename that “Uncategorized” category so their posts are picked up?
Does anyone watch Over There? It’s finished up in the US and Canada, but Sky are currently showing it and I’m hooked.
Unfortunately only 13 episodes were made before “declining ratings” prompted FX to cancel the project.
