If you’re sick and tired of Bad Company 2 rush, give squad death match a go. I joined David and Mike in a game of Onslaught last night on Atacama Desert and I swear, the game is getting harder, even on easy level.
When Onslaught came out Mike and I completed that level with just the two of us but the forces amassed against us last night were definitely harder than they were before. Still, it was a nice challenge, especially after the continued disappointment that is rush these days.
Conor joined us too and after 2 games of that we went to squad deathmatch but Conor had to leave. We did quite well! We didn’t win every game but it was such a relief not having to worry about C4 ***holes blowing up our MCOM stations. Sully joined us for the last game (or two?) and on Arica Harbour we ripped the opposition apart. They certainly weren’t the best players ever. I was killed by a medic out in the open and spawned nearby to see him go into a house. I got a hit marker on him and I was sure he saw me as he backed up the stairs so I threw a grenade up the stairs and then a smoke grenade for cover. Did he shoot me down? He was out on the balcony enjoying the sun! Awareness fail!
Something similar happened right at the end too. A sniper on the hill by the pylons took me out when my knife drew blood but failed to kill him. After spawning I returned to the very same spot and there he was! Unfortunately the game ended in a win for us before I got a chance to retaliate. Got a nice 14/3 KDR in that game! Hopping into the tank helped as well of course.
I also booted up the Xbox and had a game with Peace, a guy I met on hupitgaming. Unfortunately my mic seems to be broken on the Xbox which is annoying. It uses a different connection than the PS3. We were playing rush on Nelson Bay and unfortunately lost defending and attacking. 🙁
On PS3, my KDR increased to 0.83, skill level jumped up 240 points. I made it to level 28 too!
I wanted to know what IP addresses were hitting my website. I’d done this before and it only took a moment or two to recreate the following commands. Still, here it is for future reference.
grep -v "wp-content" access.log|grep -v wp-includes|cut -f 1 -d " "|sort|uniq -c|sort -nr|less

You’ll probably find Google and Yahoo! bots near the top of the list, but I also found the “Jyxobot/1” bot was quite busy today.
I already posted a video showing a game of Bad Company 2 where the player only used smoke, plus knifes when necessary.
d0n7bl1nk has gone one step beyond, and only used smoke grenades in the video above, and came out with a very good score at the end of the game!
Mayhem, destruction and death. That’s all I can think of when I watched this Bad Company 2 montage Mike shared with me.
I had a few games last night and sucked hugely. Teams we came up against were hard as nails and we got destroyed in several games. My skill level dropped like a stone by 227 points, although my KDR has remained at 0.82.
I hate Atacama Desert. I thought I hated Nelson Bay but nooooo, compared to that level Atacama Desert is hell on Earth. Probably an apt description for the real Desert too!
Everyone loves free don’t they? And (almost) everyone loves games. If you’re a fan of web games, those Flash and html5 and Javascript bytes of entertainment that run in your browser, then you’ll love the Web Games subreddit.
I wasted a good few minutes on Pixel Legions this evening. Great fun!
There’s only one thing worse than the enemy using C4 on your crates, and that’s your team using it. I had a few games with gulwing tonight (he found me through hupitgaming today, thanks Geoff!) and both sides for many games were blowing up the MCOM stations.
When our own team used this technique a few players had scores that were multiples of the rest of us. Two players had a score of 4000+ vs around 900 for the rest. Argh!
Thankfully they left and we had some decent games as we were the stronger team. It was weird. We were asking each other, “Is this the same team we’re playing?”
I planted and blew at least 3, maybe 4 crates and defused more. On Laguna Presa we defended and stopped the enemy on the first base while we beat them all the way back to the end and destroyed each crate when attacking. The flanking routes in that map helped immensely. In a recent video Cards attacked the first Alpha by flanking right behind some blue fencing. The same technique worked wonders for us too!
The hillside flank on the last base puts you in a very strong position too and I got quite a number of kills there. Got knifed eventually unfortunately but gulwing avenged me with possibly the last kill of the game.
For the most part I was running with the XM8 Prototype and smoke. The smoke is invaluable after planting the crate!
KDR was mixed. In the first few games I did badly but I got 2+ and 3+ in the last game or two. Global KDR is still 0.82 and win/loss is 1.55. I got the “Rush good conduct” pin for destroying 100 M-COM stations too. Nice 5,000 points!
Oh, these were my first games of Bad Company 2 rush where I played with maximum sensitivity. It was too high for me to be accurate with the AN-94 but I did fairly well burst firing the XM8P and XM8C.
Edit: Here’s that video Cards7 posted showing the flank on base 1 of Laguna Presa.
Gulwing followed me on a second boat and I warned him not to shoot anyone until we got to Alpha, if at all possible. We got there safely, armed the crate and blew it. Smoke slowed defenders down and with Gulwing’s help we held them off.
I logged into PSN and my friends list was gone! ARGH!
In desperation I tried my message box and tried to send a friends request to bigpresh, the last email in there but it said we were already friends. Phew. All the friends have appeared again but they’re all logged off which seems odd for 9pm on a Sunday evening.
Something up with PSN?
Yawn. How could you enjoy a game where there’s no challenge? Bloody cheater. via
I just bought myself a 250GB drive for my Xbox at Argos in Mahon Point here in Cork. They’re going for 68 Euro now!
I remember reading somewhere that products designed for the now “older version” of the Xbox 360 would be reduced in price but this is madness. I have a nagging notion that 120GB drives were in the region of 100 Euro only a year ago. Would I be right?
The price is still inflated for what is only a SATA drive but the price reduction is welcome! (via)
