Bad Company 2: the one with epic failures

A few weeks ago we played a few games of Bad Company 2 on Isla Inocentes. My team won the first one, but lost the second one. KDR was rubbish in both but they were great games.

Can’t wait for the next map pack and Vietnam expansion!

Update! Here’s what that oh so brilliant helicopter flying looked like from Duck’s point of view .. I won’t be teaching flying lessons any time soon.

COD Black Ops Updated

Good news today! Black Ops has been updated! Lots and lots of fixes in this patch but one I’m really excited about is one right at the end:

Additional fine-tuning of audio levels and ranges for footsteps and gunfire

Maybe now I’ll be able to hear the baddies in my headphones and Ninja will be useful. (Thanks Mike for the heads up on the update!)

(And please DICE staff, if you’re reading this. We’re still looking forward to the next installment of BfBC2 expansions. BLOPS is simply a stop gap until map pack 7 and the Vietnam expansion are released!)

Update (2010-11-18) The post linked above has been updated with 2 very important changes:

Improvements to the spawn system to resolve an issue where negative spawn influencers from specific game events were not always being deleted after the danger had cleared – in some matches, this was causing good spawns to be erroneously flagged by the game as bad spawns, which in turn forced actual bad spawns to get selected later in the match
Experimental slight reduction in knife lunge range – this is a trial change

Have you noticed these changes?

The Battlefield Vietnam Pack

The postman delivered a small package this morning from Sweden. It was the Battlefield Vietnam Pack I won on Monday!

The kit includes a compass marked “ENGINEER DIRECTIONAL COMPASS”, a multi tool, torch and AAA batteries, all in a medal tin. The compass and torch are made of plastic, but the multi tool is nice stainless steel.

Thanks again Daniel for holding the competition, and especially for picking me out of the bag! 🙂

Black Ops: How the other side play

It’s should be obvious to everyone but in Theater mode in Call of Duty Black Ops you can view the recent games of both friends and strangers alike. That means you can head over to the top players lists for any particular game type, view their gamercard and view their games.

Here’s a useful grenade throw from Havana I found by viewing a recent game. By luck I started viewing the game from an enemy player’s perspective and saw him kill getcrackin with a vehicle explosion. Ouch eh?

I think it takes a few days for games to appear in the recent games list, and/or it’s a buggy POS, but I tried finding the Nuketown game I played 2 nights ago but it wasn’t there. I wanted to see how that ballistic knife wielding barstool played. I’ll check later again.

I won the Bad Company 2 Vietnam Pack

Such a nice way to start a Monday morning, especially as I’m going to a funeral shortly I needed something to brighten the day.

I received a DM on Twitter from zh1nt0 this morning with the good news that I had won this little box of goodies! I hardly ever enter those “RT and win” competitions but it’s Battlefield so I had to, and glad I did now. Thanks DICE!

It’ll arrive later this week, and I’ll have an unboxing up here when I get my hands on it!

Interesting evening of Black Ops gamepla…

Interesting evening of Black Ops gameplay last night. I joined Duck, Garnz and Tye in a game of Zombies. Apparently I was Castro and everyone got a kick out of seeing me dive to prone. We also played Dead Ops Arcade too which was fun, before finally settling into some games of Battlefield Training.
The DCRUColin bot proved too much for some of us, but the Sasben bot was my pick of the AI players!
