Someone used my gmail address when they signed up for Sky Television. They must have lots of spare time and money to burn as they’re getting the “Variety with Sports & Movies” package at 83 Euro a month. Yikes.
I filled in the Sky customer survey a few times but they appear to have been ignored. One more time then.
Their emails aren’t really helpful, but Gmail does somehow know how to unsubscribe from Sky emails. I’ve sent Sky a reply telling them they have the wrong email for this account. Updates in the comments if I hear back from them!

So SG1 has finally gone the way of the Dodo. The final episode was a huge disappointment although I suppose it did take us into the heads and personal lives of some of the characters in an unusual way. Still, it’s not a soap opera, I’d watch Emmerdale or Cornation Street if I wanted personal conflict and relationships.
The last episode of the current series of Stargate Atlantis on the other hand was literally “out of this world!” If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a great ending.
I thought the final season of SG1 was so very disappointing. It felt like the plot had lost it’s way, that they were meandering through the series until the very end. It was easy viewing. I built up quite a collection of Stargate episodes on my Sky+ box as well as Battlestar Galactica, 24 and Lost. The two Stargate series were always the first to be watched because I knew they wouldn’t strain my tired brain too much.
For fans like myself who haven’t seen the early years of Stargate, earlier episodes are being repeated on Sky Two throughout the week. I watched The Broca Divide the other night and it was strange to see the much younger looking members of SG1 do their stuff! Richard Dean Anderson was great playing a deranged out-of-his-mind crazy guy!
This leads me on to the question, is there any proper way of ending a long running television series? How did MacGyver end? The last I watched of the series it was getting all environmental and boring. Less gadgets and MacGyver magic and more talking if memory serves. Is every successful franchise doomed to disappoint?
Way back in 2004 i posed the question, Do I need a phoneline for Sky Digital? and I can confirm that yes, you do need to keep your Sky box connected for the term of the contract, usually the first year.
Last January I purchased a Sky+ subscription with the multi-room option. I didn’t connect the second box to the phone, mainly because it’s upstairs and I never got around to stringing a phone line to that room. Then, sometime during the last year the phone line to the living room died so both boxes were offline. Oops.
Sky contacted me several times, I bought 2 phoneline extension cables but there was always something more interesting to do than fix a phone line. Fancy that eh?
Last week Sky sent me this letter saying, “sadly, your entitlement to Multiroom pricing has been lost” unless I reconnect the boxes to the phone and ring them.
I’ve been on hold to Sky for the last 32 minutes, only another 30 minutes to go..
I watched the first two episodes of reality tv show, Ni Gaeilgeoir Me tonight. It’s on every night at 10pm for the rest of the week and I’ll probably tune in.
I do have to admit that I fast-forward through it on the Sky+ because I’m not a reality tv fan, but it’s fun to watch. It does help ma ta cupla focail Gaeilge agat but there are subtitles through the recorded bits to help. The speed dating as Gaeilge was brilliant!
I haven’t a clue what the two teachers are saying. That guy from Ulster is practically incomprehensible to me! The presenter, Aoife Ni Thuairisg, is great and she’s easy to understand however!
I think a special mention has to go out to Jenny Kelly and Jeannette Cronin. The former because I wouldn’t be watching it if the Ray D’Arcy show hadn’t got her on it, and the latter because of her infectious laughter throughout interviews!
After getting Sky Digital installed yesterday I need to choose a suitable package of channels. I took advantage of the €1 installation which meant I had to go for an expensive package of channels this month. As I don’t have enough interest in soccer to justify the sports channels I want a cheaper package next month!
photoSIG: Sunset over Cork – I was just a bit hungover on New Year’s Day. It was after 3pm when I finally dragged myself from bed and when I looked out the window I saw a beautiful sky outside…
