The Power of Nightmares

Justin linked to The Power of Nightmares and I’m watching it now. Excellent and thought provoking look at the US neo-conservatives and al-Qaeda. Frightening too.
Pity some people think it’s all so simple. At least others are concerned for the safety of Margaret Hassan. God Help Her.
Later… As Keith removed my comment from his post, here’s what I’d like him to know..

Damn, but you’re one sick individual.

Much much later.. You can watch all three episodes online now. According to Metafilter they’re on Google Video and archive.org! Thanks Damien.

Batmans Begins – bah, crap trailer, looks good!

Me being a big Batman fan, I just took at look at the Batman Begins trailer. It wasn’t great, you don’t get much of a look at the Caped Crusader, but it does give you a taste for the story I suppose! Nice Batman logo! Oh and wget this link if you want to download the trailer in QuickTime format. That at least is friendlier than the wmv format to Mplayer but don’t forget to download the QuickTime codecs to play it!

Shaun of the Dead – mini review

Myself and Mel went to see Shaun of the Dead last night. What a blast! hehe. It’s a completely off the wall zombie movie, and much better than 28 Days later (OK, I’m possibly in the small minority who thinks that movie was crap!)
I absoluately loved the jokes and the dark humour! Early in the film, we burst out laughing as the two main characters, Shaun and Ed, bashed in the heads and mutilated 2 zombies that were in their back garden! I don’t remember hearing anyone else laugh (the rest of the audience was possibly shocked!) but it didn’t take them long to realise this was a spoof horror taking the mickey out of the genre!
There’s the small touches, like the supermarket-clerk zombie with her name tag on (Mary?), or the groom from the shop who’s lost an arm, or the zombie-boy who still kicks the ball..
And I love the ending. 🙂
Go see it, it’s a good ‘un!

The Beauty of Life

This is a really nice animation! Relax for the 9 minutes this lasts and enjoy a feel-good movie.

Lars Keagan is an ordinary farmer who paints the most important moments of his life. We witness his artistic progress from infancy to old age as he reflects the dearest moments of his life.

You can download an mpeg 1 version from pocketmovies.net and a Divx version is available from the author’s site.

2017 Edit: The Youtube version (This blog post was made before Youtube was founded!)

Matrix? Revolutionary Film?

Well, despite my expectations, or maybe because of them, I really enjoyed Matrix Revolutions this afternoon! Further proof that others in the theatre enjoyed it was the lack of cat calls, hissing and general hubub from the assorted kids seated around us.
It’s an action movie, through and through. The story gets in the way occasionally, but not for long (unlike Morpheus’ long speech in the second movie, most of the dialog scenes were thankfully short.)
Keanu still can’t act, and he’s comical in his “portrayal” of grave emotions. He did kick ass “doing his Superman thing” this time, which I found annoying and pointless in the previous movie.
I don’t need to tell you to go see it, you know you will anyway, but expect more of the same of movie 2 and you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
(Thank you Lou for correcting my spelling of Mr. Reeves’ first name!)

Matrix Revolutions Mini Review

Matrix fans may not like what I’m about to repeat here – these are the opinions of a 2FM DJ, so make of it what you will. Flames and complaints can be left in the comments below! 🙂
If you’re reading this on my weblog, then view source to see the review. If you’re watching through an RSS feed, well, here it is..

“I really, really like the Matrix”, “10 minutes into the film, I wanted to stab myself with my car keys”, “Remember all the talking bits from Reloaded? Lots of that in this one too.”, “Huge fight scenes in Zion, but looks like a video game”, “Dreadful, Awful, Terrible”, “If you have fond memories of the first Matrix…”, “World wide release, expected to make $200m in the first 5 days.. just goes to show, you can fool all the people all the time!”

I’m going to see it on Saturday!

Matrix Revolutions Trailer

Just watched the trailer for the latest Matrix movie and I’m impressed! Then again, I was probably impressed by the previous trailer, but the film was a disappointment. I still can’t wait for November though! Go download the trailer now! (Warning! 48MB file!)
I just noticed – The Matrix must be partly set in Chicago – the subway train had the word “LOOP” on it! *grin*

Ford Sportka | The Evil Twin

I saw this short film at www.the-eviltwin.co.uk on “The Panel” on Network 2 the other night. Unfortunately, the site is an awful flash site. To watch the “Evil Twin” movie, click on “View Highlights”, and then click on “Clip one”. It’s a tiny box, and I can’t see any download link for a sane version.
Update! That site is gone, but you can get the Ford Sport Ka ads here: http://www.allowe.com/Humor/video.htm – just scroll down a little. Thanks Brian for getting that!
Here’s a lot more info about the advert. Good read.
