Bokeh Ratings and Lens Awards
Bokeh Ratings and Lens Awards – I’ve noticed ugly bokeh on some of my 75-300mm shots. It’s most evident when viewing crops at 1:1 zoom but I don’t think it’s something I’ll worry about – it’s a simple matter to blur it a little more.
What's on in Cork?
Next Saturday, June 4th, over 250 crews will row from the mouth of Cork Harbour to Cork City centre. Ocean to City and Cork 2005 have more details, but if the weather’s nice I’ll be there!
European Street Theatre will come to Cork with the arrival of Compagnie Jo Bithume’s ‘Victor Frankenstein’. Now to figure out how to get a few tickets!
Cork WideScreen Gala Night in the City Hall presents six short documentaries that have been produced in Cork. Start time is 7.30pm, so I doubt I’ll be there – we’ll be in a pub elsewhere!
Heineken have sponsored a busy weekend’s worth of music and entertainment! Full listing above!
Even more gigs are of course listed at Cork Gigs.com, including Mundy on Friday night in the Cruiscin Lan, and Fred (just noticed the tedtheband site too! heh.) later on in the summer!
The Cork 2005 site is awful – the javascript calendar doesn’t work in Firefox, and more than one tab open with it drags my machine down! *gah*
The Bishop
This face should be familiar to almost all Cork people, be they Catholic or otherwise. Bishop Buckley has been a very popular bishop and he is well loved and respected by his congregation.

Come On!
The annual Corpus Christi Procession passed off without a hitch today. AJ and myself took a load of photos, some of which I will share over the next few days.
This was just down the road from the North Cathedral.

She said yes!
I asked her to marry me, she said yes! Thanks Jacinta, you made me the happiest man in the world! 🙂
Saving files per drag-n-drop
When you close newer versions of the GIMP, a small dialog appears showing thumbnails of unsaved images. In the development version you can drag and drop those thumbnails to a “XDS” compatible file manager to save them!
Unfortunately, neither Nautilus or Konqueror support that feature yet, but Rox-Filer does!
Is Bush a Sith Lord?
Is Bush a Sith Lord? – go on, lap it up!
The current episode of Star Wars is dynamite for the duplicitous Bush administration. Palpatine, a Sith Lord masquerading as a galactic Republican, becomes Chancellor of the Galactic Republic through deception. Palpatine uses wars that he instigates to elevate security over the power of the Senate and to become dictator.
Free, Fly free!
On Tuesday next, I finish work at TradeSignals and move on elsewhere.
It’s been fun, it’s been tough, it’s been a long time.
While still at college I rushed late into a talk being given by local business men. Me – unshaven, weaing jeans and old tshirt, got the business card of my old boss after talking to him about my Perl college project. I never heard what the talk was about, probably the usual guff about students being great and all that sort of stuff!
7 years later here I am, older and a little bit wiser and about to start another episode in the life of me!
Announcement to come in the next 2 weeks! Thanks for reading.
