This is a nice effect although some of the controls are different or missing in the GIMP. I don’t think there’s a key-combo to “select bright areas” of a photo in the GIMP is there? I’ll post an example later if I have time!
Include monitors in the frame
In this article Mark describes how to photograph monitors and tv screens. It’s a lot more involved than I imagined but the slow shutter speed isn’t a surprise, this is:
As a side note, dogs see at about 1/125th. To them, the TV is nothing but annoying colored lines unless they have slower cognitive response.
WordPress is Arstechnica "Web application of the year"
WordPress won an award!
WordPress is the most prominent rising star of weblog software, completely free and with a large and active community.
Several other notable categories, including the infamous “Thumbs Down” award going to ATI for their dreadful Linux driver support. #debian gets an honourable mention in this category too. Looks like it’s not the place to go to for Linux solutions! Try the ILUG instead!
Parish Church, Sneem Co. Kerry
This is the Parish Church in the village of Sneem. Outside were several pyramids built by James Scanlon in 1987. Nearby is a statue of Isis and a plague underneath saying:
A GIFT FROM THE PEOPLE OF EGYPT
“ISIS”
TO THE PEOPLE OF IRELAND

Sunset Over Sneem, Co. Kerry
Where were you today? I spent the day in Sneem, Co. Kerry and took several photos of this picturesque village and surrounding area. Very cold today but worth the visit just to get out and away from the world for a short while!
Outfoxed!
Starting the year right..
Lots of photographic links I’d like to read up while I have time!
- Balance the light – dealing with colour correction,
Before anyone has a cow, understand all photographic processes are corrected to what the human eye sees…. My solution isn’t for everyone, but it works. Blast the heck out of all available light with a really powerful strobe at a high synch speed, on a low ISO with a small aperture (F/22 is my favorite). Then, the color of available light isn’t an issue. ;-}

That Spam Problem
Every blog on this machine now has the the spam words from my blog appended to their own!
Blog authors here should hopefully see a major decrease in the number of spam comments and trackbacks they have to moderate as I’m fairly diligent in updating my word list!
More on spam trackbacks to come later including mangled links to some of my content that was robbed to create a spam weblog. Thanks guys – just the motivation I needed to update my spam fight! nah nah nah! π
