How do I take/edit great photographs? – MetaFilter thread with some good points.

The quite amazing autostitch is a piece of Windows software that stitches together photos into a nice panoramic image. I don’t know how it works but it’s truely amazing! What’s even better, it runs in Linux if you use Wine!
It’s as simple as clicking File->Open, selecting the images to open, then clicking Stitch->Start to create a panorama.
Here’s an example from the Donoughmore Vintage Festival a few days ago:

Mike Johnston gets used to noise in his latest article. Not sure I agree with him, but I suppose it could be a signature look if you were optimistic!

Mark Hancock delivers yet another great article! This time it’s on the subject of shooting soccer matches.
I must find out when local teams are playing; soccer, football and hurling are all played locally but I haven’t a clue about them. I should grab the closest male resident and ask them!

On finals games, be ready to run. The editors want to see a dejected player in the foreground with the jubilant team celebrating in the background. This means the PJ must circle around the losing players and align the winning team behind them. This lasts about 10 seconds.

In Hollywood Splash Véronique Vial snapped celebrities such as Rosanna Arquette, Claudia Schiffer, Carmen Electra, Daryl Hannah and others frollicking and acting it up for the camera in their pools!

The APOD photo today is a great shot of the shuttle approaching the International Space Station. It did a back flip so the front of the ship could be photographed for evidence of damage. Click on the photo for a much larger image!
