You're looking so silly Wii Fit!

Judging by the reaction on Twitter, Wii Fit hasn’t been a big hit with my friends there. When Mario Kart Wii came out there was much excitement. I happily twittered when I bought my copy, others replied asking what the game was like, or that they were going to buy it the next day “for their family”. Lots of fans there.

So, you’ve bought Wii Fit. Have you filmed yourself and put it on Youtube yet? Are you brave enough to? πŸ™‚

Of course, Wii Fit has sold over a million units. There must be a Wii Fit user reading this. Is it really fun? Will it last?

  1. I’ve only played it for about an hour last time I was at home a couple of weeks ago, but it is more of a “personal” game.

I think the emphasis with it is less on fun, and more on the will to improve your fitness. Sort of like Brain Training, but for your body rather than your mind. πŸ™‚

  2. And burkie just had to twitter that he showed his girls how to use it and never had such a good laugh.

Maybe there’s something in it, but I’ll never buy it. Even if I could rent it from Xtravision, I’d want to sterilise the board before using it ..

Give me a good ol’ game of Geometry Wars any day. Any momentary lapse of concentration in that and you’re dead. Pity I’ve been too tired to play it for weeks..

  3. My mother-in-law had me search all over for a wii fit as she is convinced it is the best thing on earth! In Canada they are impossible to find and see on eBay for $500 for early adapters that can’t find them in a store….crazy!

  4. Trent – you should come to Ireland. I see them on sale for 89 Euro and I don’t think they’re sold out. Guess the Irish aren’t as into it as much as other nations.

I’d love to hear what she thinks of it when you do get her one!

  5. Judging by the exclamations of being knackered in the video, I have a feeling there’s a good chance of this being at least a LITTLE bit healthy…

And, we all know, “laughter is the best medicine”… πŸ™‚

I’m sorry, that was kinda corny!

  6. Well, it certainly does look like fun. Although, I can think of a lot of other cheaper ways to make myself look like a total fool. Who’s getting more exercise, the guy or the girls laughing themselves silly?

  7. The Wii Fit isn’t for everyone, but you get out what you put into it.

Overall it is a great piece of kit and I’m sure there will be loads of great games to comeo out for the balance board…but there are certainly many flaws (see this link from my blog for the main ones:

But I’m not brave enought to Youtube myself playing it!

  8. Hey I have had my copy for about 3 months now and I actually love it. I am a professional athlete and a massive fitness enthusiast…I find the yoga exercises really relaxing. They are actually pretty useful and help me get in some stretching time for fun. I think the thought of it is good, the idea behind it is right, however just like in all other exercise and fitness attempts, if the person doing it isn’t motivated and not into it, the wii fit surely wont make you do it. It is something different and is great for a variation, but shouldn’t and simply won’t be used as a sole tool for exercise and fitness. i give it a ten out of ten because I love using it and opening up all the mini games…but I am sur there are many different opinions out there.

  9. I thought that the Wii Fit looked pretty tight.
Obviously regular exercise is probably better,
but again, Wii fit does look pretty sweet.
Hopefully I can try it out sometime soon.

  10. they are very hard to find these days with shopd selling out of them fast, i found it so hard to find my family a wii fit for christmas last year.

  11. One of my my friends friend used the wii fit to get in shape for her wedding. Pretty remarkable and she managed to pull it off. I think that this game is definitly here to stay. =)

  12. I used a Wii Fit for the first time at Christmas and played the hula hoop game. Oh my goodness i cannot tell you how much my calf muscles started to hurt. I definitely think it does provide some benefit and yes i think you can look like a pratt but most of all it’s great fun!

  13. Indeed, I look like a goof. And I video-taped my wife doing hula-hoops…she slapped me for a week. πŸ™‚

But it really does burn calories and it’s fun!

  14. I keep a PS3 and a Wii with board connected to my flat screen. When I need a cerebral, visual fix, I play PS3, when my back hurts from playing too much PS3, I do Wii Fit. Perfect balance and Wii Fit is cheaper than a gym in the long run.
