Tooth Ache

Some Thoughts:

  1. When you have a tooth ache everything else takes second place.
  2. Oh, and the tooth ache always happens on a bank holiday weekend, to ensure maximum pain, and remind you to go to the bloody dentist more often!
  3. Vodka, rubbed onto the infected gum/teeth is a god-send for pain relief. It lasts almost 3 hours and it’ll let you get some measure of rest at night.
  4. Have an understanding partner who’ll take care of you and fuss over you.
  5. Brush, floss and see your dentist more often.
  6. Brush, floss and see your dentist more often.
  7. Brush, floss and see your dentist more often.
  8. Brush, floss and see your dentist more often.

I’ll probably have to get a root-canal next week, the tooth is dead so hopefully it won’t be too sore. (I’m not too hopeful though..)

  1. I was wrong… I was falling asleep about 2 hours ago and woke myself by a little tap of my teeth, the pain excruciating, and growing. I walked down the stair case to see if there was any asprin, the pain growing, I found my self pouring hot water and salt into a glass, the pain growing, I gargled and felt the subtle slowing of ache, went up stairs, poured some peroxide into my mouth which immediately began foaming over, downed four advil migraine, sitting now, typing this, needing to do something other than be alone with the pain that seems to be slowly subsiding to nearly tolerable, which is about a 7 from what it was, I’d never felt anything like that before. its almost 5 am where I’m at, and I now know I have no choice but to go to the dentist this morning. this is by far the worst I have ever felt regarding a tooth, it is to the point of debilitating. I looked to see the wisdom molar had been fractured in an area, I couldn’t see to what extent, but that explains the sensitivity and level of pain.

im learched over my laptop right now with perhaps the most hideous expression of pain, the type you get when you no longer are able to express with any thing but slow dran out moans , the kind youd hear an an infirmary, the kind that eventually turn into a hum, the type that makes your face swell up, your stomach ready for heaving… and slowly the pain falls away, like a gentle cascade of my senses returning to me, ahhh, damn, level 4-5 now, I can slowly raise my head upwards, still fell the throbbing in my cheek, less and less though. I must have really done it with that peroxide, I could feel it bubbling away along the area the gum had overgrown the the broken tooth. yeah, I’m in for it, this type of pain aint for the living.

pain almost gone. what the hell was that all about? I mean, what the hell? what am I having, some sort of contractions? maybe its the advil migraine, which is probably going to kill my liver tonight, if it can do that. I dont know, what ever, the dentist or bust.

    1. omg if you did not just describe my pain im sitting here its 416am and i just took 2 aleves and 2 advil and finaly after 2 hour of unimaginble pain my pain is finally easein up my cheeks easing up pain slowly fading away i think im about to take advantage of it and go to sleep thanks for that paragraph cause i know im not alone

  2. My teeth are really herting and i have had a taplet and it hasn`t done anything i have lid on it drank water had a dentist appointment they have not done anything at all

  3. harvey tooth banger – your writing is very soothing and clear. I could feel the relief that you must be going through once that tooth is taken care of. Not that your writing described any relief. It described the pain to perfection that people go through during a prolonged toothache. But there’s nothing like the relief of a toothache finally being taken care of whether by extraction or root canal.

Anyways good luck. Let us know if you got it extracted or root canaled. Describe the pain as well as the relief once the tooth is taken care of. I really enjoy your writing.

  4. It’s 5:18am Sunday morning, I’ve been up for awhile now with a…you guessed it, tooth that is throbbing with pain that makes you want to pick up the nearest blunt object and smash yourself in the face. So far I haven’t tried anything to help the pain other than Sensodyne which didn’t seem to do anything. I really want to drink some coffee but after reading some of the comments above I don’t think I will lol.

Looks like I have to tough it out until Monday, then make an appointment and wait for it to roll around. Arggh this sucks.

  5. For those of you hurting and thinking how bad you have it because of your toothache or the overall condition of your teeth, please watch this video. Someone sent it to me tonight who knew I was hurting due to my wife recently leaving me. I felt led to share it with my Holy Shmoly friends.

    God bless

  6. I’m a dental student in the U.S., studying at Tufts to be a dentist. I found this site after doing a search to see how many people are suffering from their teeth, and was amazed to see so many. I just want to let everyone know that dental treatment has come a long way from the scary stereotypes of old, and that no one should be ashamed to go to the dentist because of the condition of their teeth. Believe me, they have seen it all and that it what they are there for. There are tons of gentle, compassionate dentists out there so if you don’t like one definitely go to another. RateMDs.com is a terrific site for reading patient reviews of doctors including dentists so you can look ones up in your area and see how others made out with them. They also have sedation dentistry now as well.

I’m sorry to hear there’s so many people out there in pain. I wish I was licensed and operating my own practice, so that I could treat you all, and help you take care of your teeth!

  7. the vodka worked. I bought a real cheap bottle of Gimely’s from the corner store on Sunday on my way over to a friends birthday party. the guy behind the counter paper bagged it for me, so once I got outside I cracked open the bottle down and commenced down a side street, took a sip and swished my mouth with it, making certain that I got it to concentrate in the far right corner. I felt the alcohol numb the pain, as a soft pulse ebbed into silence. I then thought, while the vodka was still in my mouth, why not just drink it. I mean, why not?

so, the following morning I wake up on the couch of one of my friends with a bit of a headache from the vodka, and the numerous other beverages I consumed, to find that my tooth, though still a bit raised, was no longer emitting any pain signals to my brain. I tested it a few times by gently applying pressure, just a little tap of the teeth, then a nice firm bite down, and nothing, no pain. now all I had to deal with was the pain of the party from the night before, which however unpleasant it was, could no where near touch the pain of that damn possessed wisdom tooth that had sent me sprawling about the bathroom medicine cabinet searching for any residue that resembled anything close to aspirin.

so, I canceled my dental appointment, am still planning on going to get it taken out, but when its a bit more viable economically.

I look forward to continue visiting this sight and reading some of the tragic, humorous, morose stories. take care of your teeth people, and if its to late for you, make sure your children are well informed about the pain of tooth decay, and the modes of prevention.

    1. After suffering waves of intense, nuasiating pain, I tried the Vodka and cool compress suggestion. I was ok with trying the vodka since I don’t drink and there was no chance of me getting drunk on it. It didn’t really work for me, but I tried it. After the Vodka, I made a cool wash cloth and held it over my cheeks where my teeth hurt. Since both sides of my mouth hurt it was kinda hard to breath 🙂 Finally, after waking up every hour, the treatments helped. Instead of waking up every hour, I slept 3 hours. Neadless to say I woke up exhausted. But I think the cold compress really did the trick (maybe the Vodka helped too) 🙂

  8. I just tried putting salt on my tooth and it really worked. Later I am going to try the vodka. For now thank you whoever found out about the salt thing!!

  9. Just want to say i had a chip tooth for about 2 years now and I been using cloves and whiskey.. along with ibroufen and vicodin and seems to work very well, can’t afford another bill from the dentist!! call me crazy.

  10. I am in such agony right now I cant even describe it! All I can say is that I have given birth with no pain relief and been in hospital for months on end after 2 brain haemorrhages (one required brain surgery)all within the last 3 years and I have NEVER felt pain like this!! While I was in hospital 3 months ago with the last brain haemorrhage I was grinding my teeth a lot in the night due to stress, this caused 2 of them to shatter, one is extremely painful 🙁

I feel for each and every person here, I really do! The pain is persistent and agonising. I’m dosed up to the eyeballs on pain killers, Ive tried everything I can think of to relieve it, I smell like a bloody clove and feel sick cuz I think I swallowed some of the clove oil and Im almost certainly being driven mad…I’m now having conversations with myself about why this kind of shite always happens to me!!!

I have an appointment with the dentist at 11.45 today so hopefully he will be able to do something for this pain. Im terrified to go though, its only been 12 weeks since my last brain haemorrhage and im worried that this may disturb something again. The pain is so bad that I have no option but to take the chance.

Good luck to everyone else that is suffering with toothache at the moment

  11. Choked severely (thought I would die) on a piece of food 2 days ago, it must have dislodged something in a broken tooth…in agony with all of you, am finally getting 2-3 second long respites from pain. here is what I did, after no sleep for 36 hours:

NO solid food…ate mushy fruit cocktail, smashed banana, runny scrambled eggs.
SWISHED heavily salted water after eating and on HOURLY basis, as warm as I could stand.
Aleve – nothing…seriously thought it made it worse
    Advil – marginal help
Vicodin – just made me crazy
Ice – thought it helped until I nodded off, wanted to shoot myslf as I awoke when blood returned to the area.

I credit my relief with the salt water plus taking 1GRAM Vitamin C (2 500mg capsules, ester C
    EVERY 2 hours…yes that’s right, 12+ grams per day…for infection.
    (Toothache trumps diarrhea)
I hope this helps someome. I know dentists can’t do anything until the nerve/infection calms down.
    thanks for this blog~

    1. i have had my teeth breaking for several years now. at the moment i can hardly stand the pain, and i have a VERY high tolerence for pain but not this type. im 44 years old , i cant afford a dentist and i do not know how to get rid of the pain. almost makes me want to put a gun to my head. crying ,moaning, yelling etc.its is unbearable.nerves are exposed and my face swollen immensley. please help

  12. get Listerine and keep a good amount on the tooth that hurts for 30 sec. it does not cure the pain but it does sooth it.dont rely on advil or any other amphetamine because they fix one thing and ruin another (like you stomach will get ulcers).
im feeling the pain because my dentist damaged my tooth witch led to the damage of my pulp.
    greattttt

  13. Wow, Its good to know I’m not alone but sucks that we have to meet under such painful circumstance! If you found this site like me, its because you were looking for anything that might help ease the pain of a tooth!!!! Well, after reading a hundred or better posts, I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re all f**ked! One person mentioned sucking on the tooth to remove any infection and spit it out….., well, if it doesn’t work….. you’ve just turned exscrutiating pain into ultra-excrutiating pain! I should know, I’m there. Just took 6 tylenol and 3 aspirin and it seems to have helped a bit but now my stomach feels like sh***. I haven’t read that anyone used pliars or something though and I’m seriously considering it since its a back molar and I had the tooth in front of it pulled a few years back so its pretty accessible to grab onto “I think”. I’m only afraid that if it doesn’t go as planned and the tooth breaks or something and I can’t grab onto it, I’ll probably have to kill myself in order to survive!!!!!! Anyway, my outer gum around the supposed rooted end of my tooth is swollen and sticking out a good 1/8th inch or so….. Does anyone know if maybe I could stick a pin way in there and maybe relieve some pressure from infection build up or something. I’m gonna try something tonight if it persists one way or the other…. I don’t have insurance and a hospital will cost mega-bucks for a little procedure, so if I’m gonna have to go I’m gonna make’em earn their money!

  14. USE HEAT!!! In desperation in some wee hour of the morning, because all else failed after a full day and night of pain, I grabbed my heating pad, wrapped it in a towel, turned it up as high as it could go and held it against the affected part of my face. Next thing I knew it was morning and the excrutiating pain was gone. I was swollen and there was pain, but it was very tolerable with just some Tylenol and Ambesol. I went to see my oral surgeon and he told me that was the best thing I could have done and it probably caused the infection to drain which in turn stopped the pain. When an infection is present, it’s usually the pressure of it that causes the excrutiating pain. The Dentist told me to continue using heat to help the infection drain and he gave me a week’s worth of Amoxicillin. If you know for sure that you are not allergic to any form of Penicillin and you can get your hands on some, TAKE IT. If you don’t know if you are allergic to it, DO NOT TRY THIS. Penicillin allergies can be DEADLY. Amoxicillin doesn’t work immediately but it has worked for me several times. Hopefully I’ll have enough money to get these darned teeth pulled soon.

  15. I found that luke warm water near a heater helps “it seems my tooth hurts more at night whn its cold”

  16. i went to an endontist and he said my VERY back tooth was infected( the pain was so bad that it spread making all of them hurt.)By the time i visited him i was in the worst condition possible; swollen face, nerve dead, and not being able to eat. He did 55% of a root canal which was $800. He is gonna finish it next week but my tooth is already feel 5 biliion times better.
P.S. Don’t pull out or break your tooth because the bacteria in the root will spead and infect your jaw and mouth.
P.S.S if you can’t get a root canal get clove oil immediately and put it on the tooth. it feels soo good and it kills the bacteria.

  17. Wow-The pain was unbearable-I recall being told by my doctor 7 months ago that I needed a root canal but i was like MEH-i dnt need-Actually-over the last 7 months felt nothing until Christmas day.The pain has been excruciating and i felt like yanking the tooth off with a pair of pliers. So i called the doctors and there was no one-its Christmas GUYS
Took some Tylenol but worked only for 3 hours-had to go for an emergency the following day.
Now-the dentist cleaned my tooth, and put me on antibiotics-I am to see him again after 9 freaking days as I await the antibiotic to do its job-This SUCKS
iN THE meantime-I wake up in the middle of the night and feel like someone iS HITTING MY HEAD WITH A Hammer-but its the tooth. The antibiotics make me feel like not taking food and leave my mouth dry-but i will still face the PAIN FOR ANOTHER 2 WEEKS.
People-if u have any pain-get to the source-Only the dentist knows what to do-and remember-it will come to pass-i just didnt know that nerves can get THIS MAD

  18. Oh For God’s sake. I got better, For a FEW freaking months I got better… NOW my dumb ass has to go back again and this time it’s WORSE. Been to the hosp and the best they can give me after telling me ice was a no go was toridol… BIG FUCKIN DEAL. please. But it stopped it for a sec or so. Now they put me on antibiotics and stuffs, it’s been DAYS and it’s NOT ANY BETTER. I mean, hey I lived large and got a damn hamburger, and paid for it for DAYS. Sigh, I am facing the fact that I’m gonna have to go and get it pulled, hell if this will stop the pain I’d get ALL OF THEM PULLED, right now, if they had affordable plans, like not the ones that take 50% of your salary and your first born. AUGH. This shite SUCKS!!!!! I HATE HATE HATE dentists, ESPECIALLY THE SMART ASSED ONES….

*whine, bitch, moan and complain, waaaaaahhhhhhhh*

  19. Oh and hey did I FORGET to mention this thing STARTED on Christmas Day? The day of the birth of the Blessed Christ Child? Who wants to suffer on HIS BIRTHDAY??? THIS SUCKS SO OUTRAGEOUSLY I can’t even begin to fathom it. ARGH.

  20. Yep…its just happened to me too, broke a piece off my back tooth!!! im working all day tomorrow and cant even phone to get an appointment till wednesday…which is the last day that the dentis is open before new year!!! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why do these things happen only to people like us!!

  21. Well here I am at 8pm, bank holiday (new years day)
on call doctor can’t be arsed to look at it or give me meds cos it’s not his freakin area. Thank god I have left over Anti-biotics and 2 dihydracodeine. It’s a wisdom tooth aswell.
Had some oil of cloves earlier and it made me puke. Great start to the new year.

  22. OH MAN I HATE THE CLOVES… Just the smell now makes me sick. I have childhood memories of cloves on oranges hanging around smelling all nice and fresh, and clove smell in sweet potato bakes, and in teas that taste Oh So Good, and now when I smell them ALL I WANNA DO IS BARF. It reminds me of EXTREME sickness, EXTREME PAIN and vomiting up my toenails, all from the no caffeineated 3 days I could keep nothing down. I want my happy childhood memories back. waaaaahhhhhh. Or dentures. YEAH dentures, then I would NEVER EVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN. Sounds GROSS, no doubt, but then again with THIS kind of pain and or sickness, who CARES what other people think???

    Holiday teeth pain SUCKS.

  23. all these comments helped me make it through the night….Got 2 teeth pulled today and feel much better hope everyone else getpain under control.

  24. I haven’t been to the dentist since I was in foster-care (yes I know, stupid me) because I couldn’t afford it. So now I have several cavities that are heinous. However there is one in particular that is causing my problems today. I had a filling in my first pre-molar, and it fell out about a year or so ago. Since then, I have been feeling this hole grow ginormous in my tooth. And now the pain in unbearable. I can feel in all over the right side of my face, in my ear and in my neck. It’s too hard to sleep and I have never dreaded the thought of eating before. I am in constant agony. As I talk to you, I have a dry teabag in my mouth, against the tooth, because I was told that it would bring out the infection. Anyways, I am a college student, so I have pretty much nothing. No money, no nice job that has benefits. So I am going into the dentist on Thursday, so they can take an x-ray of the tooth and give me antibiotics, and hopefully painkillers too. And then maybe when my job starts up again in February I will be able to afford to have them just take the thing out.
Anyway, I have to go take some more ibuprofen, so god bless everyone, and hopefully this excruciating pain will go away soon.

  25. aggh, have tried clove oil, painkillers, whiskey, salt water, ice pack but nothing works,
have appointment this afternoon, if i havent died by then! this is the worst pain, have had 2 root canals before. reckon need another one, i look after my teeth, so why is this happening, damn you teeth! wanna have em all removed and use false teeth…

  26. i have an exposed nerve in my wisdom tooth at the back on my bottom row. im in so much pain i decided to go to the hospital where they told me i would have to be put on a waiting list and have to wait 18 months………….lol 18 months with pain like this …..i dont think so.
im in a mess cos im needle phobic and need sadation.
im taking 400mg ibuprofen and co codamol which does nothing for the pain at all.
not one dentist in dover kent does sadation only injections.
    PLEASE HELP

  27. i went to four different dentist, because i was unsure of them all (look up boards.ie and the dentist blogs,in the republic of ireland they are rip off merchants and as far as i know from experience they are no different in attitude and manner since the 1970’s)the worst dentist i went to was on noonan eamon t, he ripped me off and my mouth open!!
my son went to him also and he apparently needed 2 fillings, anyway he had a bad experience with him and WE ARE NOT GOING BACK.
most of his clients are medical card holders, but he ripped me off completely in the end i payed out nearly over 1000 euros and one tooth had to be redone as he did not scoop out all the decaying material. If this happens sometimes it can result in an abcess which is exactly what happens to me.
in future my only advice to you would be to book in advance dont let it get too late,at the first sign of tooth sensitivity see a well recommended dentist and save up because there are many great places up north,i would reccommend appletree or anywhere in co.down to be quite honest!interesting blog,it is almost like a dentist wrote this *LOL*.

  28. Just get them pulled if the pain is too much. I did end up doing that and it still took another month before the pain was gone but its gone

  29. well im back again and with good news.
i went to a private dentist and he was wonderful, he talked to me all the way through.
i had the injection (needle phobic) twice but didnt feel a thing, he was so gentle with me.
i had it pulled on friday 16th jan and i held it together quiet well.
i did get the sweats and sick feeling but got through that.
my advice is have the lot out…………………no more tooth ache
i have 7 teeth left on my bottom row which im going to have taken out.

    NO MORE PAIN
    good luck everyone.
    julie. xxxxxxxxxx

  30. I am so glad i found a site that actually helps. These posts are great and ive laughed at a lot of them which makes the pain go away slightly for a few seconds. The pain is disgusting, and ive gotten barely any sleep cause of it. I went to the dentist and he said he didnt see anything but he thinks its sinus putting pressure on the tooth. Its the worst pain in my life and i told him to just pull it if when i come back next week and its not better. Tylenol worked nicely for the first day which the pain was very little. But it has got much worse. The second night i couldnt sleep and apparently kept my parents up. I went downstairs to go on the computer to find remedies but my dad flipped on me and i was shit out of luck for the night. The third day i went to the dentist and he said blah blah blah the sinus’s and gave me a script of Darvacet (which sucks ass and doesnt do a thing). I just put kettle one vodka on a cotton ball and stuffed it in my upper right gum near the back. In the process the vodka dripped all over the place and hopefully when my rents get home they dont flip and say ive been drinking. Ive been miserable for the past 2 days and cant wait until next week when i go back to the dentist. Ive tried ice, ice water, sea salt, salt n pepper, onions, hydrogen peroxide, vodka, pulling on it to easy the pressure a little, advil, tylenol, aleve, asprin, dayquil sinus, dayquil cough and cold, standing outside in the snow for 20 minutes for no reason hoping the pain will receed. The pain is terrible and i have to work today which sucks cause i have shed tears from the pain. Yesterday i took my frustration out on my couch, punching it and jumping up and down and flinging my arms and body everywhere, screaming into blankets. I would be embarrassed to have anyone see me doing this. Im about to take 2 1/2 100mg Darvacet and hope its not lethal cause the normal dose does shit. I looked it up and websites say its no enough to OD. I can barely eat cause the tooth hurts like nothing else. Thank God there are posts from all you guys describing your pain. It made me laugh at a lot of the things you said, hopefully youll find this one somewhat funny too. Going to take my pills, Peace and good luck.

  31. Hey Michael,
Try raw garlic cloves pressed hard around the gum of that tooth, or if you can, bite down on them for 5 minutes or so, but get the gum all around it soaked good. Might burn like hell, but it worked a little for me after everything else didn’t. If that doesn’t work, have you contemplated suicide? Only joking…., good luck bro!
    Rudy

  32. Thanks Rudy, ill give that a try. I did end up taking that 2 1/2 Darvacet and the pain absolutely went away. In the process i became quite euphoric, which i don’t care i was just happy the pain was gone. If it returns ill try the garlic clove. I don’t want to do over the recommended dose of Darvacet again cause i don’t know what its doing to my liver or the rest of my body. Anyway thanks a lot, Peace.

  33. Seriously…worst pain in my life…I dont know what to do…my ear is killing me, I feel like my body is shuting down. I am so tired as I didnt get any sleep last night. I am sat in bed with a bottle of luke warm water, my salt shaker and a jug to spit into. I get mild relief when its in my mouth but as soon as I spit it out it hurst so much. I have spent the past hour looking at websites about pulling out your own teeth…I have considered it but the tooth is broken and I know it wont all come out, probably do more harm than good. I will attend the walk in center tomorrow (I am in England by the way) and see the nurses there although they are no dentist. I am going to beg them to get this tooth out. I need it out now. Shit my ear is hurting so much. No pain killers working…Oh my god I dont know what to do, I have tried every ‘home remedy’ Garlic clove rubbed on, warm teabag, salt water, vodka. Nothing is helping. I just have the most rancid taste in my mouth. Anyone know how I can shift the ear ache as well as dealing with the tooth? I Need help NOW!!!

  34. Possibly had the worst night of my life last night, the pain in my tooth was un bearable, and my ear also hurt like crazy…no pain killers helped at all. scanned the web all night looking for home remidies just to ease the pain a little..I spent the night rubbing cloves of garlic on my tooth and gums which apart from making me stink provided pain relief for no more than 30 seconds…I used vodka which stung like hell and i found the only thing that worked was warm salt water rinsing around my mouth but as soon as i spat out the pain came back almost instantly. so i didnt get a moments sleep…just repeated that process all night.

I went to the chemist this morning and got some orajel extra strength stuff….it does work! almost immediate relief, my pain is so bad it did not get rid of 100% of the pain but enough that i managed to fall asleep for an hour. I do reccommend it. It says you should only use it for no more than 4 times a day due to the anastetic in it…I must admit I have exceeded that already but not used it in a few hours so I am hoping that will be it until the dreaded night time comes. Going to beg the emergency dentist on monday to pull this cracked tooth out…I honestly though I was going insane last night through the pain. Never had anything like that before…I have already got anxiety thinking about what tonight shal bring!

  35. Lisa,

Try to put some cotton soaked in the warm salt water over your tooth like a bandaid. If your tooth is so sensitive that it is causing the pain to make your ear ache this might help by keeping the nerve ending not exposed. Good luck…
I hope you feel better sooon…..

  36. It’s almost four in the morning and I’m wide awake. I want these damn shards of rotten tooth *OUT*! I haven’t had dental insurance for *years* and this tooth has gradually been breaking apart and falling off in pieces. My entire gum needs to be like cut open and they need to get every last bit of this tooth outtttt. A couple weeks ago, I managed to pull a chunk out with tweezers. I tried the tweezers again, but I just got blood and it hurt like a mofo. My psychiatrist place has a dental room on the first floor and after my appointment tomorrow I am marching in there and asking them to get me in like INSTANTLY, numb the hell out of my mouth (and general anesthesia or sedation or WHATEVER…for my ulcers they “sedated” me with “anesthesia,” but I was wide awake and they kept saying, “Is she getting sleepy yet?”). I want this sucker out. I hope I don’t have any more cavities. My gum hurts like hell, I’m trying not to touch it and aggravate it any more. I need to get thsi taken care of and Ive been Googling Medi-Cal. It said they cover dental, it damn well better.

  37. Oh, and i know that I sound like some kind of moron, but I’ve barely had Medi-Cal a month an my back and mental illnesses have taken priority. BBut still I should have gotten this taken care of sooner.

Hope everyone gets better and nothing’s too serious. God bless.

  38. my tooth broke as i was eating a starburst. my mom said u know ur tooth is going to start hurting. i said to her no it wont well its been 2 weeks and it has satrted to hurt. it hurts so bad i feel like everything is in slow motion. even the music i am listening to seems to be slower than usual. pain like this isnt fit for humans. i have no insurance so i will try orajel please wish me luck.

  39. If its taken 2 weeks, it may be the start of an infection. You may want to consider a regiment of anti-biotics if it is. Anyway I wish you luck! Toothaches and earaches are the worst!

  40. hi why me
orajel is no good for the pain your experiancing.
im petrified of dentists and i have coped with pain that bad for several months, believe me dentist is best.
my husband came with me and stayed all the way through the extraction. if you feel your mum could take you my advice to you would be go to a dentist that will listen to you and your fears.
i was frightend to walk through the door but if you see your doctor first for some tamasapan they will calm you down and make you feel less frightend.
please let me know what you decide.

    good luck

    julie

  41. Toothaches suck! Even though I blame not having money to fix may teeth — that is the reason I let them go so long……..I Lied……I didn’t get my teeth fixed because I was so f***ened afraid of the dentist….So I let some of my teeth just go..break in pieces…….they when it was too late, I would go to the dentist…….Oh well the only solution to my problem was to get the teeth PULLED. Why??? Because I did not go in and take care of the problem 2 – 3 or 5 years ago, stupid me….Now I have to chew with my front teeth……

because I WAS AFRAID OF THE DENTIST………stupid me…..no teeth left in my mouth….well I have a few – but not enough to do the chewing with….so very f*****en sad!……..don;t let your teeth go as long as I did.

At the first sign of a problem go to the dentist and get the filling fix, a route canal, whatever you need to save your tooth……don’t let your tooth get to the point it has to be pulled … please.

    1. hi
you should try a private appointment with a dentist who will listen you.

      hope this helps

  45. If its a baby tooth, or even an adult tooth that is that loose you can move it back and forth a lot, maybe buy some ambesol, soak the tooth and near by gum with it, wait a few minutes ’til it numbs up good and try to break whatever remaining roots are still attached and just yan it out. I wouldn’t do it though unless you are determined to go through with it since it may bother you more if you don’t succeed. Good luck with it either way!

  46. Last night, and now tonight I am experiencing a terrible toothache. I have a large cavity in one of my teeth that is causing pain. I could actually feel my heart beating in my tooth. It is one of those things where the only thing you can think about is the pain, and you uncontrollably rock back and forth in pain. It is terrible!

My toothache is subsiding somewhat after 800mg Ibuprofen, 2 pills of Excedrin Migraine, and topical application of peppermint extract and vodka. I hope the relief lasts enough to get some sleep!
