SSIA – taxing forms

I heard on the news at the weekend that a form will have to be filled out and signed at least 3 months prior to the SSIAs maturing. If not, then (I think) all the profit made on the account will be taxable(including the generous 25% top-up that made the scheme a must-have for every Irish resident!)
Revenue have published instructions on their site so go look at them.
Don’t worry, you won’t have to sign anything until at least 2006, and your bank should send you out the form!

Irish Photography

Ar an la seo, La Fheile Phadraig, ta about.com ag feachaint ar griangrafadoireacht Gaeileach agus na daoine sa tir seo a bhfuil baint acu leis.
(On this day, St. Patrick’s Day, about.com is looking at Irish photography and the people in this country involved in it.)
I didn’t get in to see the parade, it’s overcast, my camera is still in for repair and it was too easy to lie in bed and relax!

9 Songs – sex, sex and more sex!

Some crowd are looking to ban 9 Songs from Ireland. I haven’t seen it and I don’t think I will either. It doesn’t sound like a very interesting film. Here’s some shots from the film, and a linked trailer, although it’s in Realplayer format and I CBA going to the trouble of watching it!

Plot Outline: In between attending rock concerts, two lovers meet for intense sexual encounters.

Queen and Paul Rodgers – Dublin, May 14th

Arrgghhh Nnnnoooooo!! Queen and Paul Rodgers are touring this year and 2 concerts in Ireland have been announced! Unfortunately I won’t be here! I’ll be in Chicago!
Here’s the full list of concerts but they’re probably all sold out – the UK concerts sold out within hours of being announced.
I must read that Uncut interview with them soon. I haven’t a clue who Paul Rodgers is!

Sudan Red 1 – carcinogenic dye found in household brands

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has issued a list of Irish products that contain the food dye Sudan Red 1.
The Food Standards Agency in the UK have identified up to 350 food products implicated.
I just checked the kitchen and none of the listed products are in the cupboard. *phew*
So, if that dye causes cancer and has been recalled, why not recall cigarettes?
Later… Maura has more to say on it including links to the slow food website and other goodies!
