The latest Battlefield 3 trailer makes me wish…

The latest Battlefield 3 trailer makes me wish the game was out right now and that I had a PC fast enough to run it. PS3 and Xbox 360 for me!

BF3: Bombing and Dogfighting in the jet

Impressive video showing off the bombing capabilities of the jet in Battlefield 3. Nice number of points earned!

BF3: Grand Bazaar and Operation Firestorm Footage

Two new Battlefield 3 videos for you today! They’ll probably get uploaded to Youtube but they’re on IGN right now and I can’t embed them here.

  1. Operation Firestorm is a huge conquest map.
  2. Grand Bazaar is an urban map with lots of close fighting.

Thanks Arnaud for tweeting those. Can.not.wait!

Edit: Here they are:

BF3 Beta is Fun

Well, finally it’s here! I couldn’t get into any Xbox games because of problems connecting to EA but I had few problems connecting on PS3 where I teamed up with Mike, Gavin and Conor. Unfortunately the game split our squad up so we were on different teams and squads so we couldn’t talk. Next time we’re getting on Skype!

The games were a laugh, hardly anyone knew how to play rush from what I could see. While attacking I sauntered into the first base and blew up a crate with only 2 defenders coming to see what that noise was after I set the timer going. My own team weren’t much better as they ran past crates (or whatever they are now) without arming them!
It’s sort of annoying that your own team mates can push you when you’re arming. That happened to me a couple of teams but I still got the arm 🙂

Also when a squad member spawns on you you’ll get pushed forward if room is limited. Right into the line of sight of the enemy. Grrrr.

Good news is, you can still tea bag the enemy, only now it probably looks like doing press-ups.

An hour of Caspian Border 1080p footage

After his less than positive look at Operation Metro Total Biscuit got into the Caspian Border beta server and has a much better experience. I have to agree with him, why wasn’t Caspian Border the main map for the beta? It’s so much more Battlefield than that other one. From what I’ve seen anyway. I haven’t played either yet.

Make sure you watch both videos in 1080p. Amazing stuff.

(Oh yes, it’s not quite an hour, but he gets close..)

BF3 Multiplayer Trailer

Yes, yes, yes. Footage of the alpha test of the game is making it’s way around the net but you won’t find it here. The game is far from complete but shows lots of promise.

Oh yes, check out the battlelog too. That would be the social interface to the game DICE are working on. (Thanks xRegardsx for reminding me ’bout that post)

Great Pixelenemy interview with Kevin O’Leary about Battlelog and the BattleRecorder.

Now, why is it that the gaming PC I want to get always costs over 1,000 Euro? PS3/Xbox versions for me!

Battlefield 3 Breakdown

Hilarious breakdown of the Battlefield 3 trailer that you’ve probably seen already judging by the views it got on Youtube but just in case …

“That was my car”

Battlefield 3 pre-order perks for Xbox and PS3 too?

It’s bothered me that the pre-order page on the EA store only allows pre orders of the PC version. What about us poor (literally, you’ll need a reasonably high end machine to run the PC version) console players running 5 year old technology?

Well, worry no more. I found the game on Amazon and it’s available to pre order on Xbox 360 and PS3 and includes this delightful chunk of text in the description:

Limited Edition Content

Battlefield 3 – Limited Edition features the digital expansion pack Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand at no extra charge. This themed multiplayer expansion pack includes four legendary maps from Battlefield 2 boldly re-imagined with Frostbite 2 physics, destruction and visuals. Completing the package are classic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new achievements/trophies, and more.

So, now all I have to worry about is for which platform do I get it first? Xbox or PS3?

Battlefield 3 news coming tomorrow

Two days ago a Battlefield 3 PR event was held in London according to this thread but you won’t be hearing about it until tomorrow as there’s a news embargo until then and I guess nobody is as big as Techcrunch so they won’t break it. Nevertheless…

Ok, so they didnt let us near the machines to play it as its pre-alpha code (and even in the demo it crashed occasionally).

Also, they wouldnt talk about certain aspects. (boooo)

And they have embargoed the whole world from talking about until the 8th (Friday). So, until then, all I can really say is “wow… it looks awesome and I seriously think I might play this”.

I have answers to some of your questions but they were quite tight lipped but I’ll tell you what I know come Friday.

Keep an eye on the Battlefield forum at tonight then!

What does Battlefield 3 look like?

You’ve already seen this video but I had to blog it just because I posted videos of BF2 the other day. It looks amazing doesn’t it? Can’t wait!

Check out this article too which covers the demo shown to people last night at GDC. (Thanks Swordsman75 for tweeting that article!)

PS. don’t forget to read Chris’ comment on Woody’s BF3 video. Classic YT rant on a misinformed video. Click on here and look for ReddDragons for all the hilarious replies!

There’s also a Battlefield 3 subreddit to subscribe to too!
