Cobh Peoples Regatta, 2005: part 2

Following on from the fireworks in Cobh and my look around the Jeanie Johnston, here’s some photos of the late-night concert that took place in Cobh town center.
The crowd went a little mad dancing and singing along to this crazy looking band! Anyone know who they are? More photos after the jump..

The Case Against Coldplay

The New York Times reports on Coldplay’s favourite subject: moaning! Jon – I don’t admire them either, I bought their first album and only listened to it once. *yawn*

Later.. More on the Coldplay Backlash! I have mixed feelings about them being beaten to the UK No. 1 spot by the Crazy Frog, I can’t imagine a more annoying song than that tune. Thankfully I don’t have to take public transport too often and I’ve been insulated from the worst of teenager’s ringtones.

What's on in Cork?

Next Saturday, June 4th, over 250 crews will row from the mouth of Cork Harbour to Cork City centre. Ocean to City and Cork 2005 have more details, but if the weather’s nice I’ll be there!
European Street Theatre will come to Cork with the arrival of Compagnie Jo Bithume’s ‘Victor Frankenstein’. Now to figure out how to get a few tickets!
Cork WideScreen Gala Night in the City Hall presents six short documentaries that have been produced in Cork. Start time is 7.30pm, so I doubt I’ll be there – we’ll be in a pub elsewhere!
Heineken have sponsored a busy weekend’s worth of music and entertainment! Full listing above!
Even more gigs are of course listed at Cork Gigs.com, including Mundy on Friday night in the Cruiscin Lan, and Fred (just noticed the tedtheband site too! heh.) later on in the summer!
The Cork 2005 site is awful – the javascript calendar doesn’t work in Firefox, and more than one tab open with it drags my machine down! *gah*

How To Have A Number One The Easy Way

How To Have A Number One The Easy Way

The majority of Number One’s are achieved early on in the artist’s public career and before they have been able to establish reputations and build a solid fan base. Most artists are never able to recover from having one and it becomes the millstone around their necks to which all subsequent releases are compared. The fact that a record is Number One automatically means the track is in a very short period of time going to become over exposed and as worthless as last month’s catchphrase.

Backstreet Boys – As Long As You Love Me.. like never before

Following on from the great performance of the fat Dutch man comes Backstreet Boys’ As Long As You Love Me (4MB video file, let’s hope it’s mirrored soon!). It’s done in the same style by 2 lads, with another guy playing CS in the background. Love those facial expressions! 🙂
