After all the hype over Bono or Justin singing the famous line, I just heard the new Band Aid song on the radio and am not impressed. It’ll probably grow on me but I still prefer the original! Here’s the original lineup and lyrics for those interested.
Go buy it anyway, it’s for a good cause!

Apple to iPod owners: slaps all around!
On a lighter note, Apple is threatening it’s iPod owning users over a bit of software that lets you download your music off your iPod. They really didn’t have a choice, it was the big bad music corporations guiding their hand! Still, I love the simple work-around 🙂
the stypod on Queen – Dancer
I’m a huge Queen fan, one look at my CD collection and that’ll become clear. Unfortunately, there are two of their albums I really don’t like. Those are “Hot Space” and “Jazz”. They sound very 80’s-ish, and not in a good way. I think they haven’t dated very well.
Anyhow, the stypod has a feature on Dancer, one of the songs from Hot Space. Besides “Under Pressure” it probably is one of the stronger musical pieces on the album.
/me goes back to Queen at the Beeb.. ah yes!
stypod – top 10
The Stypod will have “The Top 10 Number Ten Singles Of The Past Ten Years” next week but here’s 3 top 10 singles that came out just a bit too early to include! Couple of good tracks!
Queen album finally released in Iran
Wow! It took this long to get Queen music into Iran, legally! (via songz)
Laptop mp3 server woes
So, a friend has a laptop and wants to use it as an mp3 server in his living room.
Unfortunately he doesn’t know much about computers. After taking charge of said laptop, I’ve since found out that the HD is gone and it’s only a 233MHz Pentium with 32MB RAM. Along with a nice 80GB HD from Komplett or elsewhere it should be enough to play mp3 files shouldn’t it? Even if I have to stick with Windows 98 …. shudder
As a side note, I booted a Knoppix based distro, Local Area Security Linux, to see what hardware was in the machine. Nice bootup! Unfortunately I selected a resolution that the screen didn’t like, but the bootup is nice, picked up the sound card that I wasn’t sure was in there!
Music Leech
Couple of mp3 blogs and sites I got stuff from tonight: Music is a Virus, said the gramophone, Party Ben, Teaching The Indie Kids to Dance Again, the suburbs are killing us, music for robots
Grip – ripping CDs
When using Grip to rip your CDs make sure to click the “Config->Misc->Do not lowercase filenames” box. Otherwise you get lame filenames.
