Swimming is good

The last tip by cardsnumber7 in the video above paid off big time for me in a recent game of Bad Company 2. On Arica Harbour, the 3rd base, swim as far as you can and you’ll surprise a few people.

I shot a sniper who was climbing a ladder, but got killed shortly afterwards. The second time some of my team followed me but they got out at the previous ladder.
A medic was standing right over the ladder watching the water but didn’t see me. When he left his position I snuck up and put a few rounds in him! I took out several other snipers too, discouraging them from using a high crane as a vantage point. Unfortunately my broadband disconnected but thankfully my stats were saved.

The latest patch for Bad Company 2 makes…

The latest patch for Bad Company 2 makes “playing for the objective” a lot more rewarding! Arming an MCOM station and blowing it up earns you 250 points rather than 100 points as it was previously. Looks like defensive kills are now 50 points extra, 20 points more. I presume the scores have gone up for the opposite too.

I played yesterday evening with Mick and Conor in different games and boy were they tough. A lot more people were playing for the objective by defending and attacking the crates. So much so that I think I only disarmed one crate the whole night! Saying that, in our last game on Port Valdez we were defending and successfully stopped the enemy taking Alpha. I had my crosshairs trained on that crate for a good few minutes and took down any enemies that snuck past the rest of our defenses.

On that same map, but while attacking I was trying to trace the Hind helicopter, watching it skim over the buildings in the distance when it’s nose clipped some scenery. It did a back flip, head over heels, but somehow continued flying!
It was fun knifing the guy on the UAV on that map. After the second base most of my team retreated but I hung back, got 2 kills and went looking for the UAV stand. Spotted it and probably gave the operator quite a surprise!

Anyway, my KDR suffered, I got my third gold star for the AN-94, and used the M16 a bit. Got owned several times by medics at close range. That was the most frustrating experience, and partly down to tiredness and forgetting to pump the trigger finger. When I remembered to do it, the AN-94 is a devastating weapon.

I also made it to level 23, and I’ve put 48 hours of my life into this game!

Assault Class Guide, Attacking on Port Valdez (via Nightmare Mode)

Patricia posted a fairly comprehensive guide to attacking on Port Valdez. It’s long but worth the read, although I’d like to hear her opinion of using the attic attack on Alpha 1.

Sure, it’s not really necessary to use it but if you put C4 on the doors any defenders will blow themselves up when they enter!

(First go at reblogging!)

Assault Class Guide, Attacking on Port Valdez This post is part of an ongoing series of highly detailed strategy guides for Battlefield Bad Company 2 here at Nightmare Mode. This post assumes that you have read the first 10 basic tips, because a lot of the strategies are not possible without them. Please also note that this post does not always contain pictures of what is being spoken of…it is assumed that you play the game enough to know what parts of the map are being described. However, … Read More

It really baffles me why Modern Warfare …

It really baffles me why Modern Warfare 2 is played more than Bad Company 2. Dice got so many things right and the game doesn’t suffer from the numerous bugs MW2 does.
I really can’t understand why the complainers, the most vocal dissenters still play it and don’t move on to greener pastures.

One thing Dice have done really well is patching problems and bugs. The last patch balanced lots of weapons (uuga uuga) but also changed the dynamics of air warfare by speeding up the tracer dart. A a new patch is due tomorrow morning on PS3, with a patch on Xbox to follow and has one fix that could change many player’s gameplay in rush or conquest games.

Increased the reward points for Objective Actions (Flag Cap/Assist, Arm/Disarm/Destroy/Damage/TeamDestroy/TeamDamage)

I hope they bump up the score by a decent amount to encourage players to “play for the objective” instead of hanging back to mind their precious KDR. In this game your Win/Loss ratio is more important.
