I’m downloading Half Life 2 through Steam on my Macbook now. I don’t expect it to run any better than Portal did however. Glad I have the Orange Box on my Xbox if I want a decent game of either! (Thanks giantbomb!)

I was pleasantly surprised. It was playable at the lowest setting. Almost.
The sound broke and occasionally came back from time to time. Oh well.
Steam name?
It’s docaoimh – but I only use Steam on the Mac now. Don’t have Windows on any of my machines any more, so I don’t use it any more as my Macbook is a crap games machine!
I think you’ll be changing that mentality when TF2 comes out on Mac 😉
Unfortunately it’s the hardware. It really sucks for playing games, and Steam powered games seem to be worse too. I’ll dig up the link that shows the same game is worse on Mac than in Windows.
They obviously need to optimize the games on the Mac a lot more.
And here they are: Just How Fast Are Steam Games On The Mac? and Steam for Mac Benchmarks: Windows Is Much Faster.
