Unguarded Moments: Photographs of President Ronald Reagan
If you visit one website today, make it this photo essay on Ronald Reagan. The photos are great, they capture so many well-known and also intimate personal episodes during the former President’s life. Wow!
I couldn’t help but smile when I saw the picture of him in his hospital bed recovering from surgery.. It reminded me of the Spitting Image episode where Reagan chose his breakfast using the “Red Phone” and launched a nuclear strike by accident!
Half-Life 2 Is Out!
The original Half Life was one of those rare games that got me really hooked on it. The original Quake was the same, but for different reasons. It looks like the sequel will be just as good! Here’s the GameSpot review, looks like I’ll be buying a new PC sooner rather than later…
Yet another anti-spam measure
This anti-spam plugin for WordPress is something I’m going to look at for use here.
Kitten’s excellent Spaminator is filtering all the spam here already but the surbl.org feature of John’s plugin is something I’d like to add to Kitten’s work!
Cork to get new landmark
Thanks Pronnsias for pointing out that Cork is to get a new landmark. It’ll be a 50ft bronze statue of a Quill on Lapp’s Quay. Yippee. Just get the roads fixed while you’re at it too?
Cheap Calls in Ireland, continued
This boards.ie thread on UTV Talk is englightening. I should have read the terms and conditions when I signed up, because according to section 4.10 I can’t use other telecoms providers like Vartec or Telestunt for mobile and international calls.
Funny thing is, I used both services after my UTV Talk account went active and my call was connected each time. I’ll wait for my Vartec bill to come before I can say for certain what happened. Meanwhile, a phone call to ComReg might pay off.
4.10 The Customer accepts and acknowledges that (i) the Access Provider shall bar access to all carrier selection and carrier access codes on telephone lines that have SB-WLR applied and (ii) override codes are not available for use by the Customer in conjunction with the Service (i.e. a Customer cannot access another operator’s network in making calls through use of a prefix). The Customer accepts that UTV shall have no liability for any losses or damages howsoever arising from non provision of the Service in the event that such restrictions are not accepted by the Customer.
Note – I received an Eircom bill a few days ago and UTV sent me an email saying they had some problems with lines. Scroll to the bottom of the thread above for recent comments on same!
Grand Illusions
Here’s a great optical illusion! Watch the video!

EA: The Human Story
If true, this shocking story from the spouce of an Electronic Arts employee is terrible! They’re expected to work up to 11 hours a day, 6 days a week, and not just at the end of a project either!
I knew that the game industry was tough but that’s crazy and illegal too as they’re not being compensated for the extra hours worked. There’s 15 pages of comments too so it touched a nerve with lots of people.
Slashdot has more.
Bat Transit
I guess the Batmobile was broken down back at Wayne Manor eh? 🙂
