Reading the top voted comments on this post gives the impression that some /. visitors are not altogether that geeky but the replies are a lot more interesting.
I can’t seem to make heads or tails of this post. It’s techno-babble and word salad. I guess I should remember this feeling when I talk about programming with my non-programming friends.
Sort of sad as a programmer you have no knowledge of some of programming history.
The Awesome Captain Mack
It’s a pity they disabled embedding but it’s worth watching Captain Mack at least once. Parents, sssshhh!

Killer Bean on Android
Remember Killer Bean? He now features in an 85 minute long film but I remember watching his hilarious and entertaining online shorts years ago so I was excited to see a Killer Bean game on Android. It’s free too!
I suspect it’s got in-app purchases and I’ve only played a few minutes of it. So far it’s a slick looking 2D platform shooter and controls aren’t too bad. (via)
Reykjavik Time Lapse
A short time lapse video I shot from the temporary Polldaddy HQ in Reykjavik, Iceland. I shot it with my Android phone over the course of about an hour. My battery hit 9% remaining charge by the end of it! I’ve never seen the weather change so fast or so often as it does here in Reykjavik.
Do not adjust your volume, there is no sound!

Install Ubuntu on your Android Phone
With this app you can install Ubuntu on your Android phone. It has to be rooted obviously and it’s definitely not this.
It looks like this installs Ubuntu in the same way as in the video above. It’s an app that runs in the background and you use a VNC client to connect to it. You could of course use VNC on a local desktop machine to connect to it too making it more useful but I think this is more a curiosity for those who like to tinker with their phones …
Pity he couldn’t get WordPress running on that Ubuntu install. That would have been fun to see!
