Map Pack 3 for Bad Company 2
Laguna Alta gets squad rush in the next map pack! I’d like to play that, but only with friends. It’s hard enough finding a good team in regular rush!
In related news, a patch for PS3 and Xbox 360 is due tomorrow. I’ll miss killing that building on Isla by shooting the fence. 🙁
Thanks Mike and Field Operative for the heads up!
PS. Check out Dave’s videos of recent gameplay. I love his revenge clip!

Couple of good games on the Xbox with Eddie. We lost most of the games and some of the teams we played with were atrocious, but we played a blinder in Valparaiso, base 3. Got a few nice RPG tank kills. I’m particularly proud of how I stole one of their tanks in that base but in a different game. I snuck behind their spawn with the intention of shooting the UAV operator. I can’t remember if I did but a pile of wookies appeared. They must have been at a conference. Shot 2 or 3 of them, spotted the light tank and made a run for it.
Unfortunately our team couldn’t hold down the base and shortly after I got back the last crate blew up. Boo! Earlier in that game I managed to steal their Apache helicopter too. I landed it at the back of our base for safe keeping but some busy body outside our squad took it and flew around a bit. I’d love to have been a fly on the walls of the other team to see their heli firing on them. 🙂
Some of the games were ridiculous however. In one game all the defenders left, and in the next game we joined we were left with 5 and then 6 players, half of the team being our squad! Still, we made a good showing. I suppose we should have just stayed back in our spawn area and sniped for the score but hey, you’ve gotta play for the objective. We also got the Best Squad pin, is that “best squad on your team” or in the game?
I unlocked the AUG, and I’m about 7,000 assault points from the AN-94. I’d forgotten how much I like the AUG actually. It was a pleasure to use, especially with body armour. Haven’t unlocked magnum ammo yet.
I also unlocked the AKS-74U, a fine weapon and one of my favourite engineer’s weapons. My KDR rose a notch, despite the last heavily outnumbered game to 0.72
I just played a game of Bad Company 2 wi…
I just played a game of Bad Company 2 with the worst team ever.
First of all I spawned on a recon guy in the hills above the first base on Arica Harbour, and because I was afk when the game started I thought I was attacking. Nope. We were defending and all of my squad, 2 recons and a medic were perched on Sniper Hill. Alpha had already been taken and Bravo didn’t last too long.
Defending in the town, I hopped into the heavy tank and took out a few enemies. Someone planted Alpha, I took out an engineer in a house across the road with the tank who had fired an RPG into the crate, and killed an attacker in Alpha too. The crate was ripe for disarming! Did anyone oblige? Did they what? Disarm? I spotted two medics from my team on the roof of Alpha just hanging around, shooting the breeze.
I had to get out of the tank and hop into Alpha where I started to disarm but I was too late. I quit in disgust.
The Bad Company 2 Ghost Server
Yesterday evening I happened upon this server where I couldn’t spawn anywhere. I initially joined a squad but all members of the squad were dead. I left the squad but still couldn’t spawn. I’m not the only one!
Hedgehog interrupts Bad Company 2
I had a few games of Bad Company 2 yesterday. First of all with Mike and red_draggons and later on with Mike, Gavin and Ali. The games were great and I concentrated on burst firing the AN-94 a lot more and got my 4th gold star for that gun.
Near the end our our gaming session my wife came running into my office telling me to come downstairs. There was a hedgehog outside trying to eat the cat’s food! The poor fella never noticed Sooty asleep in the kennel next to the food and he was scared stiff! I took a few photos of him, and because there wasn’t anything we could do left him to his own devices.
When the game did end I took another look outside. The hedgehog had crawled into the space between the wall and the kennel. The cats were watching, so I scooped him up with a large plastic shovel into an empty bin, carried him out the gate and deposited him safely in the grassy ditch.
Back in the game I had been killed so I grabbed a quad bike and Gavin hopped on board. This was the final base in Valparasio and I drove the vehicle like a mad man. We bumped over rocks, flew into the air, down to the far right and up again, flying into the air on occasion before flanking the base. That was exhilarating! We took out a number of enemy. I knifed a sniper before heading over to Alpha and arming that. Took out a few defenders and got the crate! 250 points, thank you!
My KDR increased to 0.76, W/L ration is 1.40 and I’m level 24 now. I unlocked an engineer’s weapon too but can’t remember which one right now.
Swimming is good
The last tip by cardsnumber7 in the video above paid off big time for me in a recent game of Bad Company 2. On Arica Harbour, the 3rd base, swim as far as you can and you’ll surprise a few people.
I shot a sniper who was climbing a ladder, but got killed shortly afterwards. The second time some of my team followed me but they got out at the previous ladder.
A medic was standing right over the ladder watching the water but didn’t see me. When he left his position I snuck up and put a few rounds in him! I took out several other snipers too, discouraging them from using a high crane as a vantage point. Unfortunately my broadband disconnected but thankfully my stats were saved.
The latest patch for Bad Company 2 makes…
The latest patch for Bad Company 2 makes “playing for the objective” a lot more rewarding! Arming an MCOM station and blowing it up earns you 250 points rather than 100 points as it was previously. Looks like defensive kills are now 50 points extra, 20 points more. I presume the scores have gone up for the opposite too.
I played yesterday evening with Mick and Conor in different games and boy were they tough. A lot more people were playing for the objective by defending and attacking the crates. So much so that I think I only disarmed one crate the whole night! Saying that, in our last game on Port Valdez we were defending and successfully stopped the enemy taking Alpha. I had my crosshairs trained on that crate for a good few minutes and took down any enemies that snuck past the rest of our defenses.
On that same map, but while attacking I was trying to trace the Hind helicopter, watching it skim over the buildings in the distance when it’s nose clipped some scenery. It did a back flip, head over heels, but somehow continued flying!
It was fun knifing the guy on the UAV on that map. After the second base most of my team retreated but I hung back, got 2 kills and went looking for the UAV stand. Spotted it and probably gave the operator quite a surprise!
Anyway, my KDR suffered, I got my third gold star for the AN-94, and used the M16 a bit. Got owned several times by medics at close range. That was the most frustrating experience, and partly down to tiredness and forgetting to pump the trigger finger. When I remembered to do it, the AN-94 is a devastating weapon.
I also made it to level 23, and I’ve put 48 hours of my life into this game!
Bad Company 2 grief
Giving grief to the back-of-the-map camping snipers on your team and other evil doings in Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Assault Class Guide, Attacking on Port Valdez (via Nightmare Mode)
Patricia posted a fairly comprehensive guide to attacking on Port Valdez. It’s long but worth the read, although I’d like to hear her opinion of using the attic attack on Alpha 1.
Sure, it’s not really necessary to use it but if you put C4 on the doors any defenders will blow themselves up when they enter!

This post is part of an ongoing series of highly detailed strategy guides for Battlefield Bad Company 2 here at Nightmare Mode. This post assumes that you have read the first 10 basic tips, because a lot of the strategies are not possible without them. Please also note that this post does not always contain pictures of what is being spoken of…it is assumed that you play the game enough to know what parts of the map are being described. However, … Read More
