Here’s another minor b2++ update. I added the blog post titles to permalinks, The title isn’t used to find the actual post, it’s simply there for search engines to find and index.
It should help somewhat in your rankings if you select your post titles carefully!
Nothing to see here, go away!
Mike Johnston looks at the photo an amateur photographer took on board a cargo plane. This follows on from my previous post on this. Mike’s updating his story as he hears more.
Powerful images, can I print this?
Matt posted a picture of Bush that’s made up from the photos of soldiers killed in Iraq. I heard this was printed in the Mirror Newspaper yesterday. It’s a controversial picture, and Matt received 408 comments on this post!
In related news, a woman lost her job because she took photos of a flag shrouded coffins in a cargo plane. One of the realities of war not broadcast to the public “at home.”
Lights Over Dublin!
Until May 3rd 22 powerful searchlights are going to light up the Dublin sky at night. You can control the lights from their website and it’s apparently very impressive! Maybe I should make my way up to Dublin in the next 2 weeks? I still haven’t seen the Spire and I should, before it rusts away..
Say "Bye Bye!" to your our old photos!
The reliability of CDRs and writeable digital media in general came up for discussion on Slashdot yesterday (as it does every 6 months or so), but Mark posts that CD-Rs may become unreadable after only 2 years! Damn, that’s scary as I’m archiving my photos to DVD-R now. I’ll probably rewrite my photos next year just to be safe. Check out Mark’s post for a comment I left there with more..
Another CSS Generator
This generator produces fluid css and I’m trying to persuade the 3 column one to play nicely with my blog design and wishes. Alas, with little luck. Must try later.
Save Billy!
Billy Burke, of Killorglin, Co. Kerry has been waiting for a lung transplant for three and a half years. His story has made the headlines here because he was turned down for a transplant in Newcastle as he had an infection in his lungs. However he has been accepted by a hospital in Manchester, but because the Irish Government has an exclusive deal with Newcastle, Billy won’t have access to lungs that become available in the Republic. This is what Billy’s family and others want to change.

Cloning Out The Can
What to do? Leave the can in or get rid of it? Interesting essay as I cloned a car out of one of the photos to appear in a few days here. It also gave me the opportunity to rotate and brighten the original image too. I hadn’t noticed the awful slope of the far shore!
Street Photographer Interviews
Several excellent interviews of street photographers in the latest Popular Photography Magazine. (via PhotographyBlog)
Later… I noticed one piece of advice that was repeated in several of the interviews. You should manually focus your camera to 2 or 3 meters, and set the exposure before hand. That’ll certainly avoid the 1-3 second lag while the auto-focus kicks in, especially in low light.
Slashdot Humour: I'm to switching UDP!
Simon spotted some geek humour on /. that made me laugh. *grin*
