For whatever reason, Tim has decided to retire from blogging. Even if he does have a huge ego (a lot of the most prolific/quoteable bloggers I know seem to share that same characteristic!), I enjoyed reading his rants and posts.
Anyway, hope you get out of that Turkish prison soon.

I made it..
I’m in Chicago, but it’s been yet another hectic day. No rest for the wicked
as they say.
Thanks Andrew for sending my old demos – I’ll have to install Vice again to take a look at them but I’m really grateful you had them lying around. I was certain I had lost the C-Force demo for good years ago!
Update! On the flight over I had the pleasure to talk to Mary Meade and her husband. Hi Mary, told you I’d mention you here!
bye bye again!
Next time I post, I’ll be in Chicago, unless I get itchy fingers and blog something from Heathrow tomorrow afternoon!
Normal transmission will resume on Monday.

C64 people and the good ol' days..
I’m stuck in work late, yet again, and plouging through a long list of things when I get an email titled, ‘remember me?’ from Andrew Fisher. Andrew was a member of the c64 demo group ‘Ozone’ that I formed with Ciaran Langford many a year ago.
I haven’t heard from Andrew in a long time so I took the opportunity to call him and we had a great chat catching up, and reminising about the ‘good ol’ days’ 🙂
Prompted by a visit to his homepage I searched for mention of the demo I worked on for Ozone and found it nestled away in a C64 demo archive. Thanks Andrew for submitting it there!
EEW!!!
Hehe.. Funny!
BlogShares tip
Ha! almost a day gone without updates! It’s busy here at work. I picked up my tickets and I’m heading back to Chicago on Saturday!
Anyway, for all your BlogShares users, here’s a tip I’ve noticed other players doing.
Buy all the stock of a blog. If you like, buy the last 250 in more than 1 step. That increases the price of the blog slightly.
When it comes to selling time, sell off 44 shares first and you’ll see the stock price rise about $1. Now sell the rest of your shares in that blog!
Linux & POS
Owen Kelly just called from a POS show here in Cork. They suffered a power cut for a few minutes.
As the lights and machines came on again Owen spotted some weighing scales booting up. At closer inspection he noticed Linux boot messages and mentions of Red Hat scrolling up the small screen!
When booted, the scales have a touch screen interface and also display movies of food being cooked. I presume the interface allows the user to select the food being weighed, which dictates the movie shown.
Internet on your toaster anyone? Nah, that’s old news! Movies on your weighing scales is in now!
Xwrits again
I’m using Xwrits again. My hands are falling off me by the end of the work day and I need to force myself to take regular breaks. 🙁
PHP5: Coming Soon to a Webserver Near You
harry Fuecks has written a very long article on PHP5 at sitepoint. It’s been a very busy day so I haven’t had time to look at it, but after a quick scan it looks like a good read.
