Have you ever been annoyed when you blog a photo from Flickr and you wished the post had been saved as a draft instead of being published?
I’ve used Flickr to host the images on my photoblog from the first post there but this plugin should make it easier and less stressful to use. Every time I publish a photo through Flickr I have to rush to resave the post as a draft post before anyone notices all the extra line breaks or broken links. Add to that, I tag and categorise the post and it’s a frantic few minutes of editing.
The Flickr Blog This to Draft plugin for WordPress simply stops the publishing of blog posts from Flickr and saves them as draft posts.
No, having my own system I find it advantageous to save to the server in the wp-admin/images/ directory and not have to rely on an outside source. There are no bandwidth problems, no busy times, no lack of connection to the next node and everything remains under my control rather than that of an outside business.
But I’m sure some will find the plug-in of use nonetheless 🙂
I use Flickr for two reasons:
1. SEO. I’ve been contacted more times than I can remember about using my images for various purposes through Flickr’s email system. There’s also a link from every Flickr post to my blog post.
2. Bandwidth charges and server load. Why load up a huge Apache process with embedded PHP simply to serve images when Flickr can do it much faster? I could use another httpd server but that complicates things, I have a lot of mod_rewrite stuff that simply does not work properly in lsws and isn’t supported elsewhere, and for reason 1 it’s not worth my while self-hosting.
the main time that i post from flickr is when i’m posting from my phone.
fuckin amazing
I haven’t tried this yet personally, though in theory it should work…
Create a new user for your blog (say, flickr) and give it only “Contributor” access. Apparently “Contributors” in WordPress can’t publish posts, just write them and save them (thus being a draft).
You could try that as well, thus not needing a plugin and also keeping your actual blog admin login details private (I would never feel safe about providing any sort of access higher than Contributor to a 3rd party site anyways).
Hey,
I love what you’e doing!
Don’t ever change and best of luck.

Great Plugin, i’ll test it
Thanks for this plugin, I will test it in my blog…

Thanks a lot. Just got my Flickr-account running andtried to post.
Then realised the problem and at first i tried changing user role for the account i made for Flickr but then i Googled and found this page.
Thanks!
