Should you get your photos printed at home or elsewhere? I’ve done both, but the prints I’ve got from shops and online have been of much better quality. The author, Valerie Goettsch, runs digitalphotos101.com which looks like it has a few interesting bits and pieces!

Struggling to Manage Your Ever-Growing Digital Photo Collection?
In this (what looks like a promo) article John Grand explains some of the issues with organizing your photos.
After reading this I went looking, and found Lodju (also available from Debian – apt-get lodju), and then looked into gThumb. It allows you to put photos into categories, and I spent an hour last night sorting some of my snaps! I backup to DVD almost once a month so hopefully my photos are reasonably safe! Now, if only gThumb would remember when I rotate my images! I don’t want to modify the originals, but having a rotated thumbnail would be great. Lodju does it!
GIMP menus overhaul
GIMP menus are going to be reorganized! Finally, no more Script-Fu, or Python menus, only one “Filters” menu!
What I’d love to see in the GIMP is a “My filters” menu where I could drag and drop frequently used menu functions. I’d drop Levels, Curves, Rotate, Scale and Unsharp to that menu for starters!
Game Reenactment – Counterstrike and Grand Theft Auto
I’m a bit late to this, as both of these movies have appeared on slashdot already, but they’re worth mentioning again!
Grand Theft Auto is acted out in grand_theft_by_otherside.mpg, a 129MB movie following our hero through 3 missions. Boing Boing linked to the Counter Strike Reenactment.
The GTA one is better, but as I haven’t played it, I found the CS one more entertaining! Love the toilet roll grenades!
Patents come to computer gaming
Justin points out that patents are invading the gaming arena. Well, they probably have been for many years but the ones listed are ridiculous!
“Minigames during a loading screen”? Oh, FFS! Justin’s right, I can remember playing games with these features back in the days of the C64 too!
SEO for the newbies

How to pitch an idea
How to pitch an idea – something that’s of importance in business and life.
Yum! Ice cream!
While waiting for our lunch in a restaurant in Killarney.

photoSIG – Torc Waterfall
We went down to Killarney this afternoon, and while there visited Torc Waterfall. It’s a beautiful location, the walk up to it is through a tree covered path surrounded by green-mossy rock and vegetation. I snapped a few shots up there so imagine my surprise when I saw that someone had posted a photo of the falls on Photosig a few minutes ago!
It’s unlike any of the ones I took, and it’s nice for me to see a different perspective on a beautiful scene!
