I’ve just done what I should have done a long time ago – cleaned up the system addresses on our company mail server. Gone are addresses like bin, daemon, adm, lp, mail, mailman, games, and amanda. “Amanda”? That’s our backup software and only ever gets mail from an internal machine. I’ll direct them all to /dev/null eventually, but they’re collecting in /home/amanda/spam.txt for the time being.
Looking at this morning’s 1.5MB spam I counted a huge number of mails to amanda, so shutting that off should alleviate problems somewhat.
Before a certain resident of Co. Galway comments, only one spam got into my inbox this morning! I just hate seeing /home/docaoimh/spam.txt being bigger than /var/spool/mail/docaoimh – perhaps I should subscribe to more mailing lists again! 😉

I occasionally take a look through the referers to this site. I noticed this evening a search for PHP REDHAT 8 and I thought, “what about redhat 8?” Unfortunately, the same doesn’t happen in a search for redhat 9, or fedora.
On that subject, must bring Fedora Linux home and install it. If it becomes like the Debian project we’re in for a good thing eventually!

Me spam Google? Never! 😆

Mark posted an article about Rush, and mentioned Michael Moore. Just a few hours previously I had been reading an article on the self same person. I agree with a lot of what Michael Moore says but it’s interesting to read a critique of his methods.

Vnc2swf – a simple looking tool that’ll record what a VNC client sees. The demos are simple but shows this could be a neat way of demoing a new product. (Thanks Justin for that)

I’m off to Madrid tomorrow morning. Can’t wait as I know I’ll have a blast, but for various reasons I wish I wasn’t going. 🙁
Anyway, Simon linked to two articles on css layout that I have to read when I get back.
I may post some photos while I’m away but don’t hold your breath. See you back here in a week for definite!

*Sigh* OK, the title of this post didn’t turn out quite as I expected. It sounded better when I said it in my head..
Bob’s Yarr blog is the latest blog to take the world by storm. Everyone’s talking about it, the magazines are cooing about the delicate way he handles issues, and concise manner in which he discusses matters.. Muahahahaha!

Liam Keane walked free from a court in Dublin yesterday when the 6th witness in the trial “denied making statements identifying the accused as the killer”.The Irish Times has more as does RTE News.
Mr Keane is now wanted for failing to show up in court today over 2 public order offences commited last month.
Scary stuff.

I’ve come across some of the things on this list and like many people been the victim of same. Even some of my friends in sales have explained some of these to me!

Simon discovered Work Rave recently. It’s a program similar to Xwrits which I have running on my X desktop. It forces you to take a break every so often and hopefully let your hands rest. I’ve used Xwrits for a long time now, and it’s one of those apps I wouldn’t be without.
