This is a great report from PhotoKina 2004 – Santdisk looks like a sure bet for the future of digital media although I have to agree with the author – why would you use Flash cards once and archive it when a strong magnet will likely destroy it. Call me old fashioned, but the nice bulky CD is harder to misplace too!

Pictured last Sunday afternoon. The day started out cloudy and wet but thankfully cleared up later. We met a New Yorker who does the tours and two Poles who clambered like goats all over the hills with their cameras!

Are photographic workshops fun? I’ve never been on one, but I’d like to. I’d think twice about Iceland however (and then go anyway!).. The author has some beautiful images to go along with his essay.

Why does one attend a workshop? To learn. To share. To experience. To be fired and inspired. To be criticized and accept it and grow in one’s art from it. To change.

The October issue of The Digital Journalist is out, and probably has been for a few days. This issue has a tribute to Eddie James and a humorous look at 2004 that finishes with a very good idea ..

Jeez … If you’re an old, famous, iconic, white, male photographer, then 2004 may not have been your year…. What the heck is going on? It seems like the photographers I grew up admiring are dropping like flies this year.

Last weekend I took a dozen photos of a valley south of Mizen Head with the intention of stitching them together in a wide panorama. This tutorial will help by using Hugin, Enblend and The Gimp!

OOh, wish I could compile this plugin, but it failed as a .c file wasn’t generated. Still, take a look at the Refract/Reflect Plug-in for the GIMP, must try to compile it later.
