Steal Their Class!

Xbox Live is free for Silver users of the Xbox 360 for the next 5 days in Europe. I just tried Modern Warfare 2 and had my ass handed to me. Didn’t take long for me to see the infamous deathstreak “Steal Their Class!” notice. I was the lowest level player there. Highest was about 67, next lowest was 26. Sigh. Not tempted to buy a Gold membership any more. Thanks Microsoft 🙂

I didn’t disconnect on purpose. WIFI died right after I died for the 5th or 6th time. (If you were on you just saw me disconnect, honest!) I swear those guys were probably looking out for the dumb newbie. I’m sure my curiosity will be piqued again in the next few days.

The coop in MW2 is excellent though. I might be willing to part with some cash if some friends were online regularly to play that!

    1. I’ll watch that shortly, but buying it on PC is out of the question. I don’t have a PC fast enough to do it justice!

I suspect I’d be just as bad at it, even with a keyboard and mouse. Out of practice and not enough time to play it these days!

  1. I know what you mean, the match making on it is abysmal. I got it on the XBox mostly becuase everyone raves about it. I am only warm to it, once you get used to the online play it gets better. But it takes a lot of practice, and when level 60 guys are killing you all the time it gets boring fast!

Split screen multi-player is a lot of fun and much more enjoyable than online. But I am not sure its much better than Halo or Team Fortress 2.

  2. Having played MW2 Spec Ops last night with Mark I’m revising my thoughts about Xbox Live. I know I won’t get a chance to play it more than once a week but damn, it was fun.

Was a pain to get going as the Xbox reported my network was using a strict NAT. Once I enabled upnp on my wifi router and dsl router it all worked ok!

  3. Hmmm, something tells me I probably wouldn’t want to be on your team in MW2…

But the €60 a year is worth it, even if you only get to use it once a week. I’m still content with paying it even when I’m off for extended periods of time due to hardware failures. That an I ahve a gaming PC now.

And for god’s sake, don’t actually buy it on the PC. It’s just a direct console port, but lets you use a keyboard and mouse. Lack of dedicated servers and mod support is not worth it!

  4. I’ve been playing online for a couple of hours most evenings since my copy arrived 🙂

Thanks for the tip about the subscription pricing – I’ll definitely shopping around

  5. Just bought a 12 month sub to Xbox Live through cheapxboxlivecodes.com.

I had to make the purchase twice. The first time I paid directly using my CC but they refunded it saying I had to go through my PayPal.com account. Did that the second time and got an email shortly after with a scan of the code, for about 29 Euro.
