No. 10000

I didn’t let up much after taking over 6,500 photos last year I’m already over halfway there this year. The photo below is the 10,000th photo to be taken with my Sony F717. It’s rather unremarkable except that I learnt a lot today about using the histogram, and the GIMP distort tool is very handy for correcting uneven horizons!
More to follow, maybe.

Purely by coincidence, someone asked on STF about the lifespan of a 717 camera. It looks like there’s plenty of life left in mine!

Fedora Core 2 and WinXP Problems?

Looks like a fairly major bug in Fedora Core 2 from RedHat. If you have WinXP installed before you install FC2 grub, or something, will destroy your partition table and possibly other data. There are a few solutions mentioned on the page above and there’s more on slashdot and the Fedora Test mailing list. I think I’ll hold off a few days before trying this release.

Oh! What a Night – mini review

Last night, as I mentioned previously we went to see “Oh! What a Night” in the Cork Opera House. In one word? Wow!
It’s a highly-charged musical set in 1970’s New York, mostly in a disco called Inferno and the auditioning for a movie about a new phenomenon called “disco dancing”!
The musical is all about the music, dancing, clothes and atmosphere of the 70s and it’s a funky look into an age past! The audience was dancing in the aisles by the end of the show, people were clapping along to the beat and not all the singing was from the stage!
If it comes to your city go see it. It’s only in Cork for a week, probably going on (or been to) Dublin, so go see it if you get a chance!

Referer Checking Now Ignoring Bots!

I’ve added code to the referer checking to check for a few common bots:

  • “Feedster, LLC.”

There are others but these showed up in the access logs of the last few minutes!
Sorry guys, your referer lists will be a lot shorter now!
