It’s a lovely Friday afternoon out and I thought it would be nice to post a few photos I took in the last couple of days.
Whatever you get up to at the weekend, have a good one, and for those nearer to home, have a great bank holiday!

Sitting down to read the Sunday Times yesterday what crawls out from underneath the paper? *shudder* Any sane person would get something to either trap or kill the spider but I grabbed my camera and snapped a few photos!
FWIW, when I was finished I trapped the spider and released it into the garden. It’s bad luck to kill a spider isn’t it?

I didn’t let up much after taking over 6,500 photos last year I’m already over halfway there this year. The photo below is the 10,000th photo to be taken with my Sony F717. It’s rather unremarkable except that I learnt a lot today about using the histogram, and the GIMP distort tool is very handy for correcting uneven horizons!
More to follow, maybe.
Purely by coincidence, someone asked on STF about the lifespan of a 717 camera. It looks like there’s plenty of life left in mine!

Fred – Tomorrow!
First part of my photos from the May 1st Celebrations here in Cork. A number of stalls, and a stage were erected on Patrick’s St. and the street was closed off to traffic and the weather was beautiful! Photos of Fred and Micha to come tomorrow!

I just heard on the radio, there’ll be a lunar eclipse tonight and it’s visible from Ireland! Unfortunately, the weather’s turned sour since the great weekend, but hopefully the clouds will clear!
PS. Here’s more about the March 3rd, 2007 eclipse, including some photos and facts and figures!
30, 40, 173… the death toll rises. I heard this on the morning news as I got ready to leave for work. I texted Cachu in Madrid and she and her friends are fine, but they were watching it on tv. She couldn’t describe the horror of it.
Last November, I visited one of the train stations in Madrid with Cachu so I’m wondering now if that was one of the stations attacked.
The BBC has more coverage as does elpais if you speak Spanish.
Later.. More people have died. What a day. Yahoo has more, and photos.
Later Still.. I rang Cachu. She and her immediate friends are fine, thank God, but they’re all very upset and distressed. College was canceled early as parents were ringing all the time asking about their children. Some didn’t show up today. She told me that we met Carlos in one of the train stations that had been targeted. The train was late this morning and the bomb went off outside the station, but I remember the place well and I’ll post some photos of the indoor garden there later tonight.

Looks like I’m not the only driver to have a camera handy to capture a road crash. Maybe I should have posted them to Photosig at the time?
