While waiting for Martina to finish work on Sunday last I wandered past the Cork Opera House and snapped a load of photos. Pity about the bad light though, shutter was way too slow to snap these guys!

Digital camera software for Linux: gPhoto – I’ve never had to use gPhoto with my digital cameras as Linux has support for USB digital cameras through the USB mass-storage driver. Just plug the camera in, and “mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera” (or some similar device, this should work if you don’t have SCSI disks)

Practically all the camera shops in Cork now sell digital cameras. One shop sells only digital, and others have a wide range. After printing a few photos using a cheap inkjet printer and photopaper I’m certain that digital’s time has come. Pity about the price of printer consumables though.

These two teens were running from the approaching tank (seen in the background). They had been throwing stones with friends as the tanks entered the city. The group had dispersed when tear-gas and shots were fired. You can see the excitement in their eyes.
