Cork Camera Club (pre-1940) contains a wealth of photographs and information about the real capital of Ireland.
Cork City Council has another site with the same content, but with thumbnails. Here’s the origin of the name, Sraid an Chapaill Bhuí, and according to the first link above, an extraordinary photo since it must have been taken only 28 years after the production of the first paper negative!
It’s amazing to see the old St. Fin barres Cathedral and Marina Quay where Ford and Son had their large factory.
If you want to get in touch with other photography types, check out Cork Camera Group or Carrigaline Photographic Society (why do you have so many images when text would do?)

Irish Blogs Directory, the new boggersphere!
Paul O’Keefe wrote to me to tell me about the Irish Blogs and Bloggers Directory, or should I say boggersphere?
I added mine there for the heck of it, nice to see it being populated already!
Bobble Head Ray – How Mad Is That?
The Ray D’Arcy show have 10,000 Bobble Head Rays to give away. Iif you have a mad story that ends with “How Mad Is That?” give them a call, text or email!
If you have a Bobble Head, go visit Bobble Head Ray and upload photos of you and your Booble Head. Photos will be published later!
Let's get take out
takeAwayFood.ie has been advertising on todayfm recently. Despite the basic design of the site (and the fonts don’t look right in Firefox!) it’s very useful. It even has all the take aways in Blarney and menus for a few of them!
deadmalls DOT com
Maybe Mahon Point should be listed on deadmalls DOT com? Apparently nobody’s spending money down there, although B&Q is mighty interesting for those housey things! We wandered through there a few weeks ago and besides a quick shop in Tesco we got out quickly! Ryan had an even better day there! hehe.
gooogle.ie
Here’s what it looks like. I think it needs a bit more work!

Daft.ie : The Daft Report
This is “A quarterly analysis on trends in the Irish Rental Market” and the report is available on Daft.ie.
It looks good. I’ll have a closer look later, but if you’re renting a room then this might be worth a look.
This is Beaumont, Cork
Google Maps is now available in Ireiand and the UK. Here’s Beaumont in Cork. Unfortunately, Blarney isn’t on the map!
At least I found where I work, I think.
Bill Cullen: Golden Apples
I heard (the real) Bill Cullen on Ray D’arcy’s show yesterday. He’s very funny but wow, what energy! Ray said he had to lie down and rest after talking to him! At the ages of 63 he wants to be the first Irishman (disputed in two comments in this link) into space and has already paid a deposit on his ticket. I heard he hopes to raise at least 1 million Euro for charity by doing this!
Ian Dempsey’s show just played an excellent Gift Grub taking the piss this morning. Listen for the repeat tomorrow morning if you missed it!
If you’re wondering what all this is about, take a look about the Internet for more..
Bank Of Ireland to repay 15m Euro over loans protection
This broke earlier in the week. Bank Of Ireland must repay 15m Euro over loans protection.
If you had a loan with them, got out payment protection, but payed off the loan early you may be owed money. Ring them at 1800 88 28 28 and you might get a letter from them in May with a cheque!
‘Course, this is just the tip of the iceberg according to some consumer groups.
Hehe.. Both articles have adverts from AIB Car Loans…
