Have you given Homebrew a try? Most MacPorts users I know have converted.
Not yet, I have heard of it but it was one of those things were MacPorts installed what I needed so I kept using it. I shall look at it though, thanks for the reminder!

While we’re on the subject of finding duplicate files… if you need to find duplicate photos check out http://www.jhnc.org/findimagedupes/. It matches based on the actual picture. You can tell it to find pictures that are x% similar. Really useful.
I installed Homebrew this morning and it’s easy to use. 🙂
I still have a Linux box here so I might try findimagedupes on my photo archive, most of the last ten years are in RAW format though!
One more vote for Homebrew!
