Naval Ships in Cork Harbour

Today myself, Ryan and AJ went down to see the various naval vessels docked in Cork Harbour.
Ryan has already posted some great photos and here’s some of mine here. The URL will change but I’ll update this post when it does!
I had a great time, the Germans got a great kick out of seeing a crazy photographer lying down on the quay taking snapshots of a coiled rope, but they did pose for a photo afterwards! It’s a pity my camera crashed minutes later and several of my shots were ruined 🙁

  2. Curse you and your creative eye! You’re putting the rest of us to shame. Great shots, pity about the camera crashing. I consider this incentive for me to order some photography books on amazon.

  3. I was lying on the quay taking shots of a coiled rope on the ground with the ship in the background. The lads on the ship were looking over and laughing so I asked them to pose for me and I reeled off a few shots. I even reviewed all of the photos on-camera as I was so pleased with them! Then I took another shot, and the camera stopped responding. I looked at the LCD and it was flashing “ERR 99” at me. This has happened before so I removed and replaced the battery and that fixed it.
I may have looked over some of those shots again and if I did I didn’t see anything wrong with them.
When I got home I plugged the CF card into my reader, mounted it and tried to move all the files to a local folder but I got an error message saying it was a read-only filesystem! Since all the files had been copied off anyway, I put the card back into the camera and formatted it. It was only after that I realised I had a few duds. 🙁
Some of the photos didn’t copy completely for some reason, and 100 files with filenames from the previous day’s shooting appeared in the directory as corrupted non-jpeg files.
Maybe I should format my CF card after I move my files off?

  4. You must be cursed then.. That day was the first ever Err 99 I’ve ever gotten. Can’t be coincidence.. Keep away from my camera with your bad juju.

  5. I think I need to upgrade my Canon 20D 1.1 firmware. Have to boot into Windows to do that so it might be a while before I get around to it!
