Churchill’s parrot is still alive at the ripe of age of 104 according to this story in the Mirror. She also has a few choice sayings, but you can read the article to find the rest of them out!

Clampers vs Eircom, who'd win?
It looks like the little yellow triangles won this time. In an ironic twist, I’d say that this photo was probably taken with a camera phone too. 🙂
Update – that file disappeared from the ripoffireland.org website, so here it is in all it’s glory..

Anyone hungry? Bagle Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?
(That title was in the best Ferris Bueller tradition – ye’re too young if you don’t know what I’m talking about!) Sorry, can’t help you there, I guess I’m lucky. I’ve only caught 7 copies of the new virus that’s sweeping the world now. I presume that’ll icrease once the USA wakes up shortly!
Topix – more news, and local news
Topix is a new news aggregator, like Google News but it has the ability it dig down to local news. If you live in the USA you can enter your location and find news from your area! It even has news from Ireland too, although I only recognised 2 or 3 of the headlines. Most of the news that’s making headlines at home isn’t represented, but hopefully it’ll improve. One major problem of course is the fact that Irish newspapers don’t provide free access to their archives which is unfortunate. (That’s not a criticism, it’s an observation, the “free lunch” of the Internet is over!)

Ten Mistakes Writers Don't See
This is one list I’ll be going over tonight. I’ve made many of the mistakes contained within and usually I realise I’m making some of them when I run out of steam in a long run-on-sentence that isn’t going anywhere fast and is basically there to fill space. Either that or I get distracted and finish the sentence quickly without
Another rocking night!
The King of Hearts rocked The Coal Quay Bar again tonight! Guys, ye’re getting better and better! Just please warn me before you point and introduce me to the punters in the pub! 🙂
A Cork Story.. we get everywhere, we do!
This story should bring a smile to most Corkonians. Either that, or you’ll jump in the Lee for fear of hearing more jokes like it. 🙂
National Geographic going Digital, sort of.
Poisonous Legacy
Don’t watch this flash animation if you’re squemish, you have been warned! It’s a protest against the use of depleted uranium as ammunition. (Thanks Paul for the link.)
Digital Black and White
This is a good article covering some of the issues the b/w photographer will come across when using digital “film”. There’s so much here I need to have another read of this later to digest it and experiment with photos at home. The site also has several other good photography how-to documents, and is well worth a visit.
Regular readers may notice the slight change in the site design here. That photos above is a panorama of 6 photographs stitched together. It covers a major portion of Cork City, and the North Side of the city. I’m not 100% happy with it yet and it may be pruned slightly as I crop and compose it for the best effect.
Now, does anyone know a shop that’ll print a very large copy of that picture on photo paper?
