Short but interesting article on taking portraits “on the street”. There’s a fine line between this and street photography. Is this photo I took in Chicago a Found Portrait?
Certainly Not Formal Portraits.

APOD has an amazing picture and story today about a huge star that exploded 170,000 years ago. The gases produced are seen expanding out at huge velocities and temperatures!
Then there’s a picture of a solar eclipse on photosig. I’m jealous, because for some reason, *every* time there’s such an event over Ireland the sky is cloudy. Every single time. *grrr*
Looks like I’m not the only driver to have a camera handy to capture a road crash. Maybe I should have posted them to Photosig at the time?
From the ILUG mailing list, this page looks like a very informative paper on general digital camera and computer use as well as driver support for various Unix systems. Worth reading the first few paragraphs even if you don’t use Unix.
The photo.net photo of the week is a stunning one! Really unusual perspective, and the colours just jump out at you!
And while we’re on the subject of stunning photographs, here’s a beautiful image of a droplet reflecting the world around.
Here’s a glowing review by a professional photography of Cannon’s new DSLR. Sounds amazing, but I’m sure the price tag is amazing too! Includes photos, including the infamous Janet Jackson incident! (via photography blog)
A Rebel in Paris and Backrounds are two articles I saw at the Photography Blog. They stand out because almost every other post on his blog is product announcements. Kinda pointless as I already have a camera I’m happy with (oh, and can’t afford to upgrade anyway!)
The latest issue of this online magazine is out now. Looks like a couple of interesting articles to look at this month.
Photos from the Chicago Air And Sea Show last August. It was an absolutely beautiful day but there was a lot of haze in the air making capturing clear images very difficult! I’ll add futher comments later but I’m tired and need to get to bed now!

Gulp! This photo isn’t quite the smile you’d expect!
