The September, Sunday Morning Photographer article is out: Bronicas and Robot Friends: What I Did Last Summer.. It’s a little rambling but he’s had an eventful summer! I know what he means about upgrading digital cameras as I bought a film point-and-shoot over 5 years ago and I’d still use it if I used film, yet I’m already thinking (dreaming?) of upgrading my Sony F717!

Masking by the Numbers
Here’s a great tones on photo editing by changing the highlights and shadows of a photo. I don’t think the GIMP has a similar tool, although the same effect can be achieved in some other way I’m sure. One to check out later.

Into the Shadows
On my way back to the car last night I spotted a man walking up an alley into the darkness. All i got by shooting in normal mode was a black blob but using the nighttime mode of my Sony F717 brought out a little more detail.
The Artist's Statement
Wow! This guy got a hard time from the local and federal police in Boston! Crikey! I wonder if the same could happen here photographing the oil refineries in Cork Harbour or other sites? I have plans to go back to Roches Point some night and capture a few images.

The Irish Photographers’ Website, Bill Doyle – where are you? It certainly can’t be a man in his 70’s, 1916 was 88 years ago! Fair dues to Peter for trying to find him though!
